Have you researched your Family Tree?

On both sides of my family, there is a family member who has done extensive research into our family past as has provided for the rest of the family, our family tree or family history. On my mother's side, one of my cousin has done this research for my mother's family tree. On my father's side, one of my uncles has research my father's side of the family. With both relatives - my cousin on my mother's side and my uncle on my father's side - neither one had married nor had children. I do find it a little odd that the relatives who are most interested in our family trees never had children to pass on our inheritance. Perhaps, because they didn't have children, they had the time to do the research and also, because they didn't have children, they do know the value of what a family tree can mean to those who do have children. Did anyone in your family do the research of your family tree?

Hello there Zoe Joy, we had this Family Tree as a Project during Elementary school days. It is somewhat hard to do because you really need to do your research. It is also very tedious because you need to cut out pictures of all your relatives and then print their names and then paste them all together.. But after all, it was a fun thing to do because when you see the finish product, it makes you want to have a family reunion. Good thing, my uncles and aunts were all around and I got to ask them questions about all our relatives Do you have the finish product of your family tree? Ours was displayed in the living area before but it was gone now. I don't know where it is now...

No, not yet. My cousin did have a finished product but that was several years ago but it now needs to be updated. My uncle just loves to share stories about the past and what he can find in the family history, but my aunt actually did a family tree. That also needs to be updated. So, I think I need to carry on from what my aunt and my uncle have done as they are getting old. I think they would like the next generation to help contribute with what they were able to accomplish. They did a lot which I greatly appreciate. So, it is up to me and my siblings to do what we can to contribute to the upkeep of recording our family tree. Displaying our family tree would be a good idea.

Yeah and then that is something you will pass on to your kids and they'll pass on to their kids... It's like family tradition, making sure that the next generation will keep the family tree alive! I wish we could have done that!

HI ZoeyJoy, this is what I have been meaning to do for a long time now, make our family tree. I've always been interested to know my ancestors because based on our family history, my grandfather changed our surname to something else when he went to the city way back when he ran away from home and never looked back for some reason. That means, aside from the family that we know now, there are still some out whom we have not met yet. My grandfather kept his real name a secret to everyone aside from some really close friends. I deem that making our family tree will be an adventurous one.

There are some family stories that I am sure that are not being passed on in my family history. I am sure everyone has some interesting and unusual stories in their family tree. In some branches, we can only go back so far, so that gets frustrated. But there has been a lot of research, so I am happy with what could be found in the history of my family. Well, ladyhemingway, if you are up to the adventure - go for it.

I'm part of a rather small family. As far as I know, nobody in our family was curious to research the family tree. Maybe we are just a bit lazy :D or we don't find it that important. Personally, I would think it would be a waste of time, but that's just me. However, I think this subject is pointing toward those that like history. I don't.

Surprisingly enough, I have found a lot of cousins who are fascinated by climbing our tree. We each take a different branch and then trade notes! :)

My family history is very different from the average family. I have an adopted family and a biological family. One of my adopted aunts did a great deal of searching that part of the family. I would be included in this family tree but never saw her completed project and she's deceased now. My biological family would be very interesting to know all about but I don't keep in touch with them. I researched and found my father but it's a touchy situation and is better I don't try to make much effort about finding out about his family. Might cause problems for him and I sure don't want that to happen.

My dad has done a lot of family tree research. Not so much on my mom's side. I know a little about her family. There are some relatives I know about, though.

I did not research on line yet, I'm thinking that they request some payment ahead of time. Would you know if there is a need of payment, and how much they charge? I did research but in my own family. I asked few years ago some older relatives of mine what they know and I was able to put together a small family tree, going back about three generations. Only te direct line. I would really like to know more and maybe meet more of my family relatives , from other lines too, as I find that my direct lne family is quite small. I like to have a big family and meet with them, have parties, birthdays, holidays, all together. Who knows, maybe one day I will be able to have that.

That is quite interesting thing to do but I have not got the opportunity to do so. One way of doing that is to go to Haridwar in Uttarakhand and there is a place where we put the holy ash of Hindu in Ganga, and register the name. I think they have kept the record of all if this ritual was followed by our ancester. So it can help to find the big tree. I will try that whenever I get the time. Thanks for sharing.

Our family tree is well recorded. Thanks to my second degree cousin, the late C. Afable of Midland courier for her earlier researches. We have an annual clan reunion which include the sixth generation clan members. I am with the forth generation with which the fist generation can be traced back in the 18 hundreds.

I once asked my father about the family tree, but he said our family didn't have a hint like that, I tried to make out a family tree, but my grandpa couldn't remember names. I finally gave up.

I researched our family tree on both sides because it was Our school project to do so. It funny how big your family can get and you won't expect who you're really relatives with. I had 2 classmates in that class who were in a relationship with each other. And then when given that project, they found out that they were both long lost relatives which explains that they have the same last name (our classes are arranged in alphabetical order an it's possible for people to have the same last name but be totally unrelated.) it's amazing how blood connection brings them together. Like they felt compatible because they were family, after finding out, they organized a really big family reunion and everything went well. What's also good about knowing your family tree is that you et trace the diseases your floor has thus when you choose your mate, you choose people who do not have the same diseases with your family, this will lessen the probability of you having children with stronger variations of diseases that you already have. It's a matter of prevention so finding out your family tree is really worth it.

My parents have. They are both members on genealogy.com. My step mom spends hours researching stuff and my dad contacts anyone that happens to have our families name and gets information from them. They have stacks of papers and notes about our families ancestors and their past, and they're still going because there are a lot of mysteries to unfold.

No not me. My cousin was supposed to have done that and also she made some cook books to give to us all who contributed a fave recipe of ours to it. I did and received one. Actually it had pictures of us in them all as well, ones she chose though and put in there and we didn't have a say on which ones we wanted to use. I had a few of me in there that I thought were ugly.
