My mum had my ears pierced when I was around 5! I have been yearing earrings since then, but recently I didn't feel like wearing my silver earrigs as usual. I used to wear them all day and night but now they feel uncomfortable at night so I take them off and then I forget to.put them on again!
Even though I am not crazy about wearing earrings every day, I love this new fashion with the oversized pairs! I got this new pair of large gold-tone earrings for New Year's Eve and they were very heavy for my ears but I wore them since I had planned to match them with my dress and accessories! I felt like my ear lobe was stretching down but I managed to keep the on during the party! The next day I decided to avoid wearing earrings for a few days. Yesterday I tried a my old ones and I found that my right piercing hole was not open so I had to push the stud inside with pressure until it comes out from the back. I think that my ear lobe is hurt so I cleaned it without taking the earring off. I think it won't go in again if I take it off now! It would be a shame to let it heal and close the piercing hole, I have my ears pierced for 12 years!
Have you ever left your piercing without earrings until it closed?

About ten years I got my eyebrow pierced, it looked really good, I had a small gold hoop in, but the trouble was whenever I went to the gym, I would sweat and when I wiped the sweat away from my forehead, many a time I kept catching the hoop which resulted in it being pulled out! So I left it out, I haven't put it back since, so I think by now my eyebrow pierce would have closed up after all these years.

I have heard that the piercing at more sensitive areas like lips, eyebrows, nose etc heal faster if you take the earring off. Maybe this happens because the skin is thin and sensitive. Do you still have a mark from the piercing? I used to wear a nose ring but it's closed now and you can barely see the mark, only if you know where it is!

I don't have my ears pierced but I have a bunch of other piercings. I wear my jewelry in all the time because I don't want them to seal up and have to get them re-pierced. Some of the areas that I have pierced would probably hurt incredibly bad if I had to get it redone through the scar tissue. I have my bridge, septum, lip, nose, and my nipples pierced.
I used to have both nostrils pierced but the on the right side sealed up. My girlfriend pierced it for me and instead of putting a stud in it I wanted to get a ring in there right away. So we bent a hoop style ring and put that in when we pierced it and then had to bend them back together as close as possible so I could have a ring. The bent ends got stuck inside my flesh though and then my skin healed up around it. I thought I was going to have to rip it out but after a couple days of playing with it the piercing just ended up falling off.

Omg! No, I would never do such painful piercings! I only have my ears pierced, and I also had nose piercing but it closed. I think I was more brave when I was younger but now I couldn't stand the pain! lol
My old neighbor had piercing at her nipple and she said it got infected because it got caught on her bra all the time and she had to take it off.

' I stopped wearing earrings a long time ago due to constant infections.
The woman who pierced my ears kind did one of them where the post goes out the harder part of my lobe and its really hurt to put it in every time.
I decided that wearing earrings was just not my thing after all. I don't know if the holes are closed and I don't ever plan to find out.

It's very important to get a good piercing, I had mine when I was a kid. But when I went to high school, I pierced my right ear 2 more times. The woman who did the piercing opened the new holes too close to each other and I couldn't wear all 3 earrings together. So I left one of them without an earring to heal and I rarely wear an earring on the other one.
If you are not a huge fan of earrings then it's not something that you should worry about. There are many nice designs with clip closure, you can get a few of them for your special occasions!

The only time that I've ever left one of my piercings without earrings in them until they closed was when I decided that I didn't want one of my piercings anymore. You see, at one point in time I had four sets of holes in my ears and an additional cartiledge piercing in one of my ears. I decided that I didn't want the fourth set of holes (that were in the cartlidge) so I left those without earrings in them until they closed. It only took about three months for those to close up, but that is because that was the piercing that I had most recently gotten.
I can go for months and months without putting earrings in my other holes because of the fact that I've had all of those piercings for such a long time.

Me too, I had my ears pierced when I was a kid and normally I can stay without earrings for a long time. But if they are hurt inside from an earring that didn't fit well or for another reason then it is easy to close in the process of healing. That's what I am going through now, so I have to keep them clean and wear earrings to keep the holes open!

That has never happened to me. Although I don't wear earrings everyday, I still manage to wear them whenever I go out.

I have been wearings ever since I was a kid. I just started taking them off when I was using hoops when I was in College, coz I couldn't sleep with them on.

When I was younger I was wearing earrings even in my sleep! lol
THe past few years I am doing the same as you, but I guess this new pair was heavy and hurt my earlobe. Now I am wearing a pair of stud earrings all day and night until I feel that the pain is gone.

I am 17 and have never had my ears pierced. My second cousin is 6 now, and got her ears pierced shortly after she was born. I didn't think this was right. I thought they should wait until she was old enough to decide for herself. Of course I'm a big liberties and freedoms person. I think everyone should have the right to choose.

I had my ears pierced when I was around 5 or 6. It was definitely before elementary school! Actually, I remember I was begging my mum to allow me to pierce them because all the other girls in the kindergarden had them pierced from a younger age!
I also believe in personal freedom but I think that it's going to be something that girls will do anyway when they are older. It's probably a tradition to have little girl's ears pierced when they are very very young.

Maybe your body is really efficient at healing itself. My ear piercings never close up, no matter how long I do without wearing earrings. I had a nose piercing more than twelve years ago and it has yet to close up all the way, even though I haven't worn in a nose ring in over a decade.
