I am just beside myself....

Life was going along well and then we get this notification on our door today. For those of you that don't know I live with my daughter and grandson in a Section 8 Housing apartment complex. Rent is paid by a payee of my daughters. She is on SSD and that goes to her payee monthly. Today we get this notification from Housing saying about two thirds our rent wasn't paid. It is due on the 1st and here it is the 8th. Why do things happen on Friday afternoons when all offices are closed? For some reason the payee made two transfers of odd amounts on the 1st that added up to about two thirds of the actual rent amount. My stress level is way up there now and all we can do is set here and twittle our thumbs until Monday morning. And I don't do that well. My thoughts immediately go to the worst scenario and it isn't pretty. We go forward with the knowledge that the rent is paid. This happened a couple of times back about two years ago when the payee was changing over to electronic transfer and that was somewhat understandable. But this....!?!?! Your thoughts.

Sounds like first someone needs to contact the payee who is paying the rent, and make sure all the rent got paid, and if not why? Then on Monday you need to call the bank and the people who are over the section 8 and find out where the mistake is, and work on getting it resolved. Many times, it is just something that has been overlooked, and hope it is in this case. If not, then someone has some explaining to do I would think. Wishing you the Best.

We can't do any of that until Monday. The notification that there was something wrong didn't even get to us until late afternoon. None of the offices are open on Fridays. So I set and worry and wonder until then.

Oh bummer, no way to contact the payee either until Monday.. I hope you can get out this weekend so you're not stuck thinking only about this until then.

These sorts of things do always seem to happen on a friday or a weekend where nothing can be done. I hope you can be alright through it. Try to keep your hands busy I know that helps me, its why I like myLot. Perhaps the payee made a mistake? Unless you have had this payee awhile then it seems unlikely to make a mistake that way. I too think the worst of these situations and sometimes of the people involved when disaster hits. Is it possible the payee used the money for something else instead of paying? I don't know how this works at all so it is just a thought.

I wonder if the payee payed someone else's rent to our housing. I am wondering if the payee did use the money else where. Makes me wonder.

Do you have contact with them or can you contact them? Perhaps to ease your mind ... hopefully. I hope it is just a mistake and not that they purposefully did that.

My thoughts are that I hope there is a good explanation for this. We have had some funky things happen since the first of the year with banks, and so forth and things get worked out. I think it is good the apartment complex is letting you know when it is only a week past, so that you guys can get in touch with the payee.

Yes, it was the bank. If the apartment complex hadn't let us know we would still be in the dark.

Ya, did they obscond with the money or what? Why two different transfers for weird amounts on the 1st? And then nothing else. I took my meds early and will take a sleeping pill tonight as well.

Nope. It turned out to be a glitch at the bank.

That's what I'm thinking is if they didn't spend that money for what its meant to be spent.

Just found this. DIdn't come in my notifications. It wasn't our fault. It turned out to be a glitch at the bank. It just showed up at its destination as a different amount. Weird, huh?

WOW, something certainly has gone totally wrong...I can understand your feeling upset...and to know that nothing can be explained until Monday probably after 9:00AM is really stressful... I am not to familiar with section 8 these days be hopeful everything will be rectified on Monday.. To say not to worry may seem senseless but ..Try not not worry to much for you know that the monies are there....

I wonder if the money is there. If it was why did the payee make two different and odd amount transfers on the 1st? Weird!

How long has she had this particular payee? Is it similar to having someone else with a power of attorney over her affairs? I think at this time, all you can do is wait until Monday, when everyone is open and you can get to the bottom of it. If the payee did something else or can't account for the money or why the rent wasn't paid on time, do you have a back up plan in place?

It is SO frustrating when things don't go as planned, isn't it? You do have a plan though, in case the payee isn't doing right by your daughter, right? In the meantime, I suggest that you sit with a cup of brewed tea, and try doing something that you enjoy, like reading or crocheting. Keep your mind off of this so that you don't stress yourself out more.

Since she had been on SSD. She is bi-polar and cannot be responsible. Yes it is similar to have power of attoroney over her affairs. Yes, all I can do is wait until Monday. Yes, I have a back up plan in place. I have the number of a woman who works for SS and came afew months ago to ask if the payee was doing their job. I will call her and see what she suggests. I hate it when things don't go as planned. Ugh! 39 more hours until I can do something.

hi celticeagle my son alosis on section 8 but so far he has nad no problems. I think Monday you will have to talk to the payee and ask why the two payments and why not the total amount due for the reent as its their error and they must fix it.Do try not to worry yorseelf sick over this as its surely just an err or in bookeeping on the part of the payee. good luck hope it all gets corrected soon. 8

Take a deep breath. I know how alarming this is and how your mind is going a mile a minute of what could happen. They (the complex) has to give you the benefit of the doubt and take into consideration that this all happened on Friday afternoon, not much you can do about it until Monday. Can you still call the office (for the complex) today and tell them what you intend to do? Money was paid on your behalf afterall, albeit not the full amount but part was paid, and hopefully you will be able to pay the rest come Monday.

I, too, hate when things happen and then I have to wait to resolve them. But it sounds like, in your situation, that this was a mistake on the part of the agency that pays your daughter's rent. You know she wasn't cut off by them because they did send some money. I think, once again, they have a mistake to fix. What is your worst case scenario?

That they don't find any mistake on their part and we have to come up with the money. She wouldn't be cut off by them because she has services with them. Meds doctor and a PSR. The thing I don't understand why two odd amount transfers were made on the first. Why not just the complete rental amount? Weird!

No, that really doesn't make sense. However, there really isn't anything that can be done until Monday morning. I think that it is fairly typical that things happen on Friday afternoon when you can't reach anyone. That's the way that it usually seems to go here as well.

Sometimes it happens ! Life is strange , sometimes some issues aren't in our control , it comes by surprise and most annoying part of it so right at the very moment you want to resolve it but it can't for you have to wait for another day. Best thing to do here is not to worry for worrying doesn't help . Realax and tomorrow all will be settled.
