The railway minister says, the foot over bridge or its railings didn't collapse, rush of pilgrimage caused the stampede; he claims the station had arrangements to handle rush
.
It is learnt that for crowd control the ministry posted ‘sensitize’ Railway Protection Force; but neither they nor the first Aid kits were seen for 2 hours after the sad disaster
.
On the other hand the railway had targeted a profit of 1000 crores from the Kumbh passengers by imposing 5 rupee surcharge on every ticket for the 750 special trains that will run from Jan-14 to Feb-24th. It is so sad to learn this.
Have you ever faced similar incident in places of historical importance and pilgrimage?
Please respond and share your valued opinion and comments.
Thanks in advance. Professor Dr. B.Saraf. PhD.
‘HAPPY VALENTINE DAY IN ADVANCE’
Cheers have a lucky day ahead.

There have been some times in my life that I've been on a pilgramage, the most important of these being in August of 1997 when I had the opportunity to travel with a group of youth from my church diosesces to World Youth Day in Paris, France. One of the things that I remember the most about that pilgramage was the fact that the crowd control during the time that we were in Paris was very good. The million visitors to the city were able to travel via subway easily and there were actually few delays.

Personally this makes you wonder, and no definate explanation for this as well, as well as responsibity. I really think this will make others think twice now more for sure.

I live in India remember? lol So such things happen more often than not..lol
We do need to do something about our population as of yesterday...I mean..unless we reduce our numbers there is no way we can ensure everybody has a job, and enough food on table. And unless we reduce population, we will not be left with enough monies for providing bridges. I lived in Mumbai for a few years of my life..and the condition of overbridges there was so scary...I mean everytime I looked at them and the traffic on them, I thought what would happen if it collapses today...they needed repair as far back as 40 odd years ago...and you are talking about this one today? Those things have lasted primarily because they've been constructed in a different era...immediately after independence. Today, people are so corrupt...they would be happy enough if the construction that is supposed to last for 100 years lasts for 10 years.
