We had 99 cent stores here in Mexico, like in the usa. Then they went to a dollar store. And now they are more $1.15 stores as they charge 15 pesos per item. Its ok, as most have products here from the usa. So Id buy anyway. I can get so many american products like.... soups, mayo., catsup, kleenex, sugars, syrup things like that. Do you have these stores where you live? Do you like them?

We have Dollarama here, and now it says Dollar plus . Just a few years ago everything was $1 and under, now it can be ip to $10. It's not really a bargain, sometimes Walmart has cheapier things. I ound diced tomoatoes, and sometimes they are cheapier at the grocery stores.

I think as items go up such as cost to deliver, keep the store in shape, or the rent ee for the store, price of items go up.

Might be, but I think here in Mexico its the cost of the peso vs the dollar. Gone from 12.50 to 12.00 last few weeks here.

I hear what you're saying. They started out as 99 cent stores the turned into dollar stores. Now I have seen many of them with signs that say a dollar and up. I guess that covers all the higher price items in the store. But all in all, for some things it is worth shopping there.

I like them myself. You do sometimes find some good buys in those dollar stores. I just don't understand how those stores survive though. Here where I am there are tons of those stores only a few blocks from one another.

The stores we have like that here are mostly stores that have non eatables from China, such as small kitchen gadgets, hangers, and the like. We get food from other parts of the world in the biggest supermarkets and there`s nothing thrifty about them.

I enjoy going to them sometimes. They will have a few deals but if you shop around you can get better one's at times. Though when I was moving in as a room mate with my cousin we got tons of stuff we needed for dirt cheap.

Yes, and I really enjoy the ones that have always been just $1 for everything. We do have stores that say $1 but then a lot of their items are over, but you can find many great bargains from time to time. But around here all the Dollar Stores are now Dollar Trees. I really enjoy going to these from time to time and stocking up on things like Deodrant, and some other grocery items like catsup, etc. depending on what they have there at the time.

Our dollar stores stayed that way mostly for quite a few years. Then they became $2 & $3. But the quality of the goods also improved. Now they are called discount stores and I shop there a lot of the time and I buy all sorts of things from them.

That is the same where I live. Used to be when it had dollar in the name it meant everything was a dollar. Stores are becoming shady, and greedy. They opened a store called .99 cent store. You would thing everything would be .99 cents. NOT it meant that everything in the store ended in .99. Like $5.99, $1.99. Tricky Hah? the best thing we have here in MA. is The Dollar Tree. Everything is a dollar. I bet you that will change eventually. For now its the dollar store of my dreams. Do you have Dollar Tree in Mexico?

Really.. i didnt know that. here the prices are all the same now 15 pesos or 1.15-1.20 for everything in the store. I love these kinds of stores here.

In my country we have a shop called "Tiger". In that shop everything costs 10 kr (about $1.50) or 20 kr. I visited the shop yesterday and I bought some cheap pencils. They also have many other kinds of things like food, household things, make-up, notebooks, dvds etc. I like to browse those shops and I have bought many cheap things there. I usually find something that I want to buy We also have two other shops (Soestrene Grene and Bounty) They don't have fixed prices like 10 kr or 20 kr, but everything is very cheap and they sell a lot of different things. Those shops are also very popular for instance when children want to find a cheap present for their friends.

We have all kinds of "dollar" stores around here, but the prices at most of them are typically not a dollar. However, we also have the Dollar Tree where everything is a dollar plus tax. There, I will end up paying $1.06 for all items that are not food items. I do love this though because of the fact that they have a lot of items there that are typically a lot more expensive than just a dollar if you were to go to a regular discount mass merchandise store like Wal-Mart to buy the exact same items.

I love the dollar tree and buy several items from there. I buy a lot of cleaning products and also things to store items. I buy my niece and nephews crayons, color pencils, and paper. I buy some food there as well. I know we also have a store called dollar general which is not always a dollar as well as a store called Big Dollar Store which is not a dollar either.

Yes we do and I simply love them. You can find so many different things at low prices. There is usually something for everyone and anyone. There is one that is opening just this week in my town actually and I am looking forward to go check it out. It is important that one makes sure that he avoids buying useless things - that is things he does not really need, because the tendency in these kinds of shops is that one feels it is so cheap and definitely worthwhile, and then simply stores the item away and does not use it. When that happens you would actually be wasting not saving money. So it is important to keep an eye on how much you are going to spend and what sorts of items you are going to put in the trolley.

There are several types of dollar stores near me. Dollar Tree is the one where everything costs one dollar or less. I go there often. Then, there is a Dollar General even closer to me. This is a larger dollar store that offers great savings. While many items costs about $1, there are others that cost more and sometimes much more. But you always get savings. I go there for items that I can not get at the Dollar Tree. Dollar Stores are great. I am glad to hear that you have them in Mexico.

Around here, they are now more likely to be $2 stores. Some items are still a dollar, but a lot are for more than a dollar. Things are expensive in this city, and it would be hard for a store to stay afloat if they only charged a dollar per item.

Seems like that here as well, gone from 99- 1.33 now. So next year might become 2.00 stores. But I still like them alot...

Dollar stores started cropping up here around 20 yrs ago when I was a teenager. I do like them but after time you know what is worth your hard earned dollar and what is not at those type of stores. Like anywhere you have to know your prices between all the stores to truly know what is a good deal or not.

We have them here in Puerto Rico but when they say everything is .99 cnets its not always true. You can get some good buys there but you have to be careful as to what you buy. Some things are made very cheap and won't last for long. Some of the foods too are not really healthy for us so I don't buy the food. I usually like buying things like candles and plastic food containers.

really? Here they are .99-1.00-1.33 or close to it. The prices re all the same. Also some items are 2 for one. I really like these stores.

I usually visit them for regular stock of small apparel. Of course sometimes they had unique product which they own. Well it's always be a pleasure visiting those store.
