I was listening to the news and heard that Valerie Harper who used to play Rhoda on Mary Tyler Moore has just told the public that she has brain cancer, a rare form, and her doctors are giing her three months. How sad.

I think the reason she was so good was that she was low key and realistic. Sad to think about knowing you are going to day in afew months. I can't wrap my head around that.

Hi celtic, Yes, this is sad news. I have watched several interviews with Valerie Harper recently. She appears to be handling the news with the same positive attitude that she has always had. We can learn so much from her example.

I keep missing the interviews. She seems like a strong woman. Maybe she has known for quite awhile and just now decided to go public. We can learn alot.

Yes, it is sad that this had to happen to her. I seen her even talking on TV about this. But we need to remember we are never promised tomorrow so we may never know which way we will go.

She is such a talented actress and I'll miss her. I think its so brave to tell the public this news, as we all hope the doctors can ease her pain. Valerie was great on several television shows. Its sad knowing there doesn't appear to be any chance to treat the cancer.

I think she was a very classy woman. What a horrible type of cancer too. I think it was too far advanced for any hope.

Hi Carm...I believe it was Rhoda, not Rhonda. She was such a sweet person and I loved her on the Mary Tyler Moore Show...I'm sure she'll be missed quite a lot. I already responded to this on another discussion and I was so shocked to hear of her condition....how sad.

I was shocked to hear this to. I heard the news this morning. I remember Valerie Harper the most as Rhoda on the Mary Tyler Moore show and on Rhoda. She seems to be taking this quite well considering the situation! It will be sad to see Valerie Harper go when she does.

She is probably well medicated. Resolve is something.
