In the musical field, I wonder what does "unplug" mean. Since tonight I watched a singing show, and it mentioned the word "unplug". I am curious to it.

Right. Don't have to be plugged in to have music.

It could be talking about the guitar accompaniment---acoustic, rather than electric. It could be talking about 'unplugging from the whole system, man! Gettin` outta this whole cause-&-effect jive, cat!' Or it could be something else. How did they use the word (give us the sentence/phrase they used it in)?

Is that the phrase they used? It's 'singing because you like to, not because of any "payment you'll get" or "cause that needs support".'

I looked it up and I am still none the wiser, apparently to unplug means 'Of, relating to, or being a musical instrument, arrangement, or performance that does not feature electronic amplification or modification; acoustic' Hope that helps!

Perhaps it means the most simple instruments?

No, youless, acoustic is much more sophisticated than that. Take a simple example; the guitar. There are 2 basic types. All have strings and frets, but whereas an electric guitar plugs in and produces sound electronically, an acoustic guitar has a hole beneath the strings and doesn't plug in, in fact it doesn't have a cable, it produces sound by vibrating strings, amplified by the hole - acoustically. Most 'pop' bands play electric guitars - they're loud, most folk groups use acoustic guitars - a quieter, gentler way of providing musical accompaniment.

Most songs theses days have electric guitars and heavy drums. To play something " Unplugged" means you play the same music on acoustic guitars and without the heavy drums.

Yes. There is a different type of mood when a song is played on acoustic instruments.

Then perhaps you can hear to the singing clearly.

Unplugged in music means that you are hearing the band/singer in their raw form without the use of electronic and digital enhancements.

So it will be a challenge to the singer.

Well it means that they are playing with instruments that are not loud with electronic device such as an amplifier.

It is a very clear explanation and easy for me to understand.

This is a good answer,I think that without all the electronic devices is impossible.
