When I was in school children shared lunch with their friends all the time and I do not think that things have changed. Sharing is just a part of life that's how most relationships like friendship or lovers start out. Even if you are not in school anymore I'm sure you still share your lunch, even kids that can afford almost anything can ask for you to share your lunch with them.

things will be changed. In past our study patterns was different like gurukul, to day school. to boarding school .In boarding school their is no any system of tiffine box to share the lunch. all of them simply go to canteen or mess & eat their lunch on time.

We used to share our food all the time. And I am sure my kids do the same. After all I am sure that they would not eat something bad for their health coz schools now implement of bringing only nutritious food.

Dear jenny our culture are changing day by day. It's worth to concentrate on nutritious food. if you remember or discuss with your grand mom or dad then you find that they drink pure milk pure sweets because the have cow in their house & taking care of them. on those days he never hear about that milk is made bye chemicals ghee is made by fats. So if you can go decades back then you gave your child a good nutritious food. regards MKS

I don't know how it is where you are at, but we never shared when I was a kid - 50 odd years ago. However, I can certainly see WHY sharing isn't allowed, because so many kids have food allergies or intolerance, and that doesn't include those who have dietary restrictions because of religion. I went to school with some Jewish kids and I'm pretty sure they were at least mostly kosher back then.

It's a common practice here to share whatever you have with close classmates. My children when they were still in school sometimes bring some extra food or whatever we have at home to share with their friends in school.

In my school days, I seldom brought lunch to school. The few times I did were just some sandwiches so the food was not enough for sharing. But we shared sweets all the time. But when we had our lunch in the canteen, we did share some of the food. We even "donated" some to mates who was not really hungry but would like to eat a little.

WE used to share lunch with those who never brought lunch, but these days children are trained not to share and thus are encouraged to become selfish.

It's been a while since I was in school, but as far as I know, sharing is acceptable.

There is no issue of that here in my country, my kids bring their own food and i don't mind them sharing it with other kids but most often i guess they don't share as each kid bring their own food.

Some are do the same especially if they had lot of foods. Even all parents are responsible to their children bringing food for lunch to school they'll also tells to them not to forget to share their foods to classmate esp to all those who don't have lunch. All are happy eating in one place and sharing foods. That is one of a good thing that parents can teach to their children. Being an open arms to others. And I also learned such thing from my parents then I share to my kids so they know the value of sharing with others. That was also Jesus teached us... :) have a happy Easter!

I would, but that was not the norm in our schools because the majority were stuck trying to pretend they were rich. There was a very small few who would share their lunch with anyone who didn't have money or food to eat. At my children's school they do not allow any student to go hungry regardless of the situation. The cafeteria worker will still provide them something.

It isn't really working in our schools, because most of the times people bring sandwiches from home. Sometimes exchanging sandwiches work, if the other one's seems more delicious, but people don't necessarily share their sandwiches. Sometimes, if someone brings food that can be shared, like chips, packet of biscuits, they are going to share and pass it around. Some time one classmate of mine brought some aibergine or avocado cream to school, and everyone was putting that on their sandwiches... and we celebrated each others' birthdays as well, and we gave each other bars of chocolates or cakes, so then there was some sharing. So it happens, but not really common. But it's not forbidden... that sounds ridiculous.

Hi friend, in my country, elementary student should share their lunch to other friends, because it is very important to teach love each other. Student who does not bring lunch is a violation. Because, she cannot share with her friends, while in their school there is no canteen. I think it is a good behavior for elementary student.
