A two year trip around the world

I read about a company that arranges a new kind of trip. The people who buy this trip travel for two years and during that time they visit every world heritage site: Taj Mahal, Petra in Jordan, Machu Picchu, the pyramids in Egypt, Angkor Wat and more than 900 other places. The trip costs £990000! I think that it sounds amazing to visit every world heritage site, but I wouldn't be able to travel for 2 years and I definitely don't have £990000 What do you think about the trip that they arrange? Would you buy that trip if you were rich? Why/why not? Do you like the idea of seeing every world heritage site or would you prefer to pick out the sites that interest you the most? Which world heritage would you pick if you had the chance to visit only one heritage site somewhere in the world?

The program certainly is very unique, and indeed very impressive. I like traveling very much, and visiting coutries of different cultures and traditions. Taj Mahal is one place I have been to, and I certainly am looking forward to visiting again.

I also like traveling very much, and I think that it is really interesting to visit other countries and learn more about other cultures, traditions and lifestyles. It is great you had the chance to visit Taj Mahal, it is one of the places that I would love to visit one day. I have never been to India, but I always dream about visiting that country. There are also a lot of other interesting and beautiful places around the world that I would like to visit. I visited Anglor Wat last year and it was really interesting to see it in person. I would love to return to Asia in the future.

It wud be nice to have 2 years of holiday... heaven!!!!

One of my friends had the chance to visit Mecca and he told me about the time he spent there. It is an experience that he will always remember and he is very happy that he was able to go there. I hope that you will also be able to visit Mecca one day. Yes, is a very large amount of money. Only rich people would be able to afford that kind of trip. I definately don't have that kind of money, but I am sure that it will be a really interesting experience for people who can afford it because they get the chance to visit a lot of different places around the world including some of the places that very few people have heard about. I don't think that I would be able to travel for two years, but I think it sounds very, very nice.

I think that the trip for rich people sounds fantastic although however much money I have I prefer to be an independent traveler. I believe two years is a very long time to travel for. I traveled around the world for just over one year and that was a long time. Much happened at home during that time span. The price tag is way too much for me ever my friend. I love to visit world heritage sites. During 1997 I flew in plane and saw a view of the Pyramids. In 1998 I saw Petra in Jordan. I loved seeing the Mayan ruins in Central America. If I could see one heritage site somewhere in the world than I would love it to be the Inca ruins in Peru. Whilst in that part of the world I might be able to sail around the Galapagos Islands in next door Ecuador possibly. For that I would need an organized cruise.

I hope that you visit Petra in the future because you would find it fascinating and very beautiful. I can see you would go to only the places that you want to and this for is understandable. I wish I had an unlimited amount of money for travel then I could travel in each of the school holidays.

I have the same kinds of thoughts. I think that it would be fantastic to visit all of those interesting and beautiful places around the world, but on the other hand I also prefer to be an independent traveler. If I had that much money I would prefet to plan my own trip around the world because that would give me the chance to visit exactly the places that I want I would probably visit a couple of countries at a time instead of travelling for such a long period. But unfortunately that is just dream, I don't think that I will be able to apend that much money on travelling... It is great that you have already been able to visit some of the world heritage sites. My ex-boyfriend visited the pyramids before we met, and he told that it was amazing to see them in person. I have never seen them, but it could be very interesting to visit them one day. I would also love to visit Petra.

Two years of traveling is quite a long time. I don't think I will have such a long time for it. I can't give up anything right now to travel only. Besides, it is very expensive. Perhaps you can travel around the world with less money. I don't have to visit every heritage in this world. I like visiting the places with natural and beautiful scenery much more.

Yes, two years that is a long time, and like you I think that it would be hard to give up everything and travel for such a long time. It would have been easier in the past when I was single and didn't have own home and many pets to take care of. The price of the trip would be another problem, there is no way that I would be able to pay that much for a trip, but for people who can afford it I think that it would be a very interesting experience and they would get the chance to visit a lot of beautiful places. I don't think that I will be able to visit all of the world heritage sites, but as long as I manage to visit some of them I am happy.

I would love to know what that means on american dollars. I don`t know what pounds are, although those zeros must mean it`s expensive As for the trip itself, I would have to carefully check it up, including the route, the lodgings and the means of transportation. Two years is a long time.

£990000 is about $1500000, so that is lot of money As far I understood from the description is a luxury trip where the travellers stay in the best hotels etc and that is one of the reasons why it is incredibly expensive. Thansportation must be very expensive as well since they have to visit so many different places during the trip. Only rich people would be able to afford that kind of trip, but I think that it could be a very interesting experience to visit so many different parts of the world. I don't have that kind of money so I will have to pick the places that I am really interested in instead of visiting every world heritage site.

It sounds great even the hear the term "Around the World". All his life, human being spends most of his time within the place he raised or working and doesn't have much time to go around the places he wished to see. It's very expensive to visit the places you wish to see and many compromise and just live in their dreams and going around the world people even never dream in their wildest dreams also unless they are multi-millionaires. If there's any company that offers a trip around the world in a limited budget, it's a boon for many apsiring souls.

A trip around the world on a limited budget would be amazing. I am sure that kind of company would be very popular. For many people a trip around the world will remain a dream. The trip that I read about when I started the discussion costs £990000 and that is a lot of money but of course it would be fantastic to visit so many beautiful and interesting places around the world. I hope that I will be able to visit some of the world heritage sites during my life, but I am quite sure I will never get the chance to visit all of them (unless I win the lottery or something like that )

I think travelling for 2 years is too much, so while I would want to see all the world heritage sites, I would prefer to do it during different trips, even if I had the money for such a trip, which I sadly don't :) But I usually get tired of travelling after a few weeks, especially if you are on the move all the time. So seeing the sites one by one is a good option too. I really want to see Angkor Wat, by the way. I think it's the one site that intrigues me the most!

I think that it would be a good idea visit the heritage sites during different trips. Two years that is a long time. I love travelling, but I think that I would enjoy it more if I didn't visit all of the hertitage sites on the same trip. When I have travelled for a long period I lose some of my enthusiasm, I wouldn't say that I get tired of travelling (I don't think that is ever going to happen ) but I don't feel the same kind of excitement because I already visited so many other places and had so many other interesting experiences. I hope that you will get the chance to visit Angkor Wat in the future. I was there last year, and an unforgettable experience

Hi, I think traveling for two years around the world is a great idea. I can visit every single place that I only see on books and magazines. If given the chance I would go for it while I can, bringing along a camera and a laptop to record my journeys and observations about the different people, places and events around the world. Overtime, I may be able to gather enough data to be published as a book for those are not fortunate enough to see them, recording them for posterity. Travel can really expand one's perspective making a person open-minded and able to understand different ways and learning from them in the process.

There are practical things which would make it hard for me to travel for two years, but I think that the idea sounds amazing. If I had the chance to travel for two years I would be able to visit a lot of different places and that could be really interesting. I think that it would be a great idea to bring a camera and a laptop. I would take many, many pictures, and I would also keep a diary and write about my impression of the places that I visit. That diary would be useful if I decided to write a book about my trip. I agree with the things you wrote about travelling. We can learn a lot of things that way and we expand our perspective and increase our knowledge about other cultures and lifestyles

I think that it would be really interesting to visit every historical site in the world. There are so many beautiful and interesting places in the world and it would be fantastic to get the chance to explore all of them Unfortunately I am not super rich so unless I win the lottery I won't be able to visit all those places I don't think that I would be able to travel for two years and visit all those places on the same trip. I would probably explore one continent at a time and first of all I would return to Asia and visit some Asian countries where I haven't been yet like Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines.

I'm not sure if I can bear to be away from everyone I know for that long. Then again, with the technology that we have, it's so easy to stay in touch nowadays. If I were to spend 2 years traveling, I would start with local destinations then slowly work my way out of the country (Philippines), out of the region (Southeast Asia), and so on. I've seen Angkor Wat and would love to visit it again.

2 years is a long time to be away from family and friends, but fortunately it has become easier to stay in touch than it was in the past. In the past the only options were expensive phonecalls and snail mail letters, today we can chat on the internet and exchange emails and I think that it is great. It sounds like a good idea to start in your own country and region and then move on to other parts of the world. I have done the same thing. I started by visiting some of the other European countries and last year I visited Asia for the first time. Like you I would like to visit Angkor again, because I was ill when I was there and I didn't spend as much time there as I had planned.

I wouldn't go anywhere. My home is my heritage site. I just love my home , my locality, trees, birds, etc. I would reject the offer.

I can tell from your response that you really love your home and the area where you live. I feel the same way about my area. I live on an island and I love my area especially the area around the bridge where you can see the water on both sides. I also love the sculpture park, the old windmill and the area around the castle. I love my area, but unlike you I still love to visit other places, and I really love travelling. I wish I could explore every country in the world, but that is not realistic
