I just watched this movie with my family. It was 2hours and 7 minutes long but well worth it. It is the story of a young boy who is on a cargo ship with his family. The ship sinks and he is thrown out on a lifeboat. Alone but for some animals it is a harrowing adventure of him and the relationship he developes with an adult Bengal tiger. The reason for him being nicknamed 'Pi', the flying fish, floating island and the tooth all are items in this story. One thing that came up was the fact that we don't always get to say goodbye to people who come into our lives. Have you seen it? What did it do for you? It had a lot going on.

I am glad that you wrote about this. I have seen the movie at Redbox but did not quite know what it was about and if it was any good. Thank you for the review! I will look for it the next time we rent movies.

I love this movie it shows many values of life like life goes on, not giving up and we should be independent at the same time cautious to others and WE ARE IN Control of the situation which shows when he became a friend to the Tiger which is impossible since he is carnivorous but he was able to convert it to eat fish instead.

Obviously things like this aren't impossible. If fish is all there is then that's it. I think this is a movie that different things come out for each. It was good in that way too.

I had watch this movie, but I certainly not really understand the intention when he told the whole story to the reporter. What actually this story represent? Why he cried when the tiger left, and the meaning of the whole story? I seems not be able to grasp the whole meaning of it.

Yes, i have.. it was a very engrossing film indeed. I have seen it a month ago with my friends and even they liked it, which was new since they usually liked action films or those with musicals. We all enjoyed it very much, the graphics and the story.. it was very touching.

I didn't see the movie. I don't think I could have watched what went on in the boat. I did read the book and found it fascinating. I enjoyed the first part that took place in India and at the zoo more than the part in the boat.

I thought the movie has a lot of lessons to be drawn about life. One of them being our human will which once we put our mind into it could overcome any kind of obstacles that come our way, like survival, living with what we have, living with our friends or enemies especially the latter who is ever so ready and willing to finish us for their own gain. Throughout his ordeal, it is like us going through life and once thrown into the ocean is like us going into the adulthood and the working world. We will have our friends (new friends) like the zebra or monkey and our dangerous enemy like the tiger.
The movie is quite relevant especially about how we deal with people who some like the tiger will take a lifetime to win their trust and even friendship. But, at the end like the tiger will part ways with us without even looking back or saying goodbye. Though we may have lingering memories about him/her, I am sure the feeling isn't mutual.
The other lesson, I could draw would be the part about not being too comfortable with what you have, arrive or gotten, When Pi arrived at paradise everything seems to be falling in place and to his favor but something tells him otherwise and that it would be a wise thing to move on to his actual final destination than be stuck with the comfort of what he has arrived at. And he was right. So, I believe we should never be easily satisfied and contented especially when it is not what we really want and should have.
Throughout the movie, I believe it is telling us never rest on our laurels and we should work hard to reach where we need to go.

I have not seen it but glad u enjoyed it. I love a good movie if i can sit still long enough to watch it. That is a problem for me. I use to tell my boys they had 'ants in their pants' when they couldn't be still. Guess they got it from their mom, lol.

Even though it was slow going in the beginning I stuck with it and ended up loving the movie. It is based on a true story from what I hear. It was scary, funny, sad and had beautiful scenery happening throughout the movie. What it did for me is if you have faith and the will you can survive anything. I just felt bad when the Lion didn't come back to him and just walked away.

I did the same and enjoyed it. I think it speaks out to different folks on different things. For me the not always having the time to say good bye to people struck home with me. It was enjoyable.

It was a great movie. It has won Oscar award for its graphic.
I watched it in the cinema with my son. We enjoyed it very
much and we also recommended others to watch it. It was an
eye opening story and about life and relationship. About
staying sane and survival.

It's a good movie....especially the movie gets more interesting at the interval bang and post interval. It's all about human struggle and will power against fierce nature, it just makes you realize for a while that though we are advancing in terms of technology, we still cannot escape from the wrath of nature. Overall, it's a movie worth watching.

I agree. It is a movie worth seeing. I doubt some will because they feel it is boring. Which is sad. It does have a lot to say.

My son and I watched the 3D version of Life of Pi. But I have to say that both of us felt bored to this movie. It is not as good as we expect. Although the visual effect is great, but its story is not attractive for us. When we watched it, my son often asked me when this movie could be finished

People are saying it is boring. It not the usual adventure, full of action and fast moving. It is a mythical type story and isn't fast paced.

Yeah I heard about this and have been intrigued. I read the book years ago and thought it was very good and enjoyed it thoroughly. When I heard about the movie I wondered how they would do it but as of now I have heard nothing but good things so I think I will watch this.
I will wait until it comes out on DVD however, I don't like sitting in theatres for more than 90 minutes, so I usually just watch comedies at them.

It was only 2 hours and 7 minutes. That is only about 15 minutes more than the average film.
