I have just published a quite brief unofficial Guide to the main elements of MyLot. I welcome any appreciation, comments and constructive criticism! In spite of the fact that, for a brief guide, it's longer than I intended, it still doesn't cover much more than the Menu system. I hope that I shall be able to post other articles about using the Settings, Responding, Commenting and so on! Edit (8:30PM GST 4 May 2013): The Guide now includes a 'definitive' description of what "Interesting Posts" means (it is more or less the same as 'Discussions from Your Interests' used to be, except that it is based on the tags you have used, rather than your 'Interests'). I have also added some screen captures to make it a bit more 'visual'
Saturday, 4 May 2013 This is the NEW myLot! What MyLot claims to be:    "An enormous discussion board, blogging community, questions and answers hub, social network and online hangout all wrapped up into one neat little package we call myLot.  Follow and j

It occurs to you that some of us longtime users are far, far too good to this site. I keep telling myself its for the benefit of other users...

@renkinjutsushi "too good to" or " too good for"? I know that MANY people felt that, particularly the way things were done at such short notice, it was a personal 'slap in the face with a wet towel'. I really can't blame them for feeling that and nor do I offer any excuses for MyLot's apparent lack of forethought and consideration in that respect. It would have been more considerate to have given a month's notice, say, of the closure of the earnings program and possibly quite feasible to run the old site and the new site side by side to a certain extent. That, however, is so much water under the bridge. This is, effectively, a new site and a new venture in many respects. I am far too curious in how a new management with a new policy and a new interface will fare and find that I have to find out ways in which it can be used to best effect. As an erstwhile software trainer, it is instinctive for me to need to explore and try to explain things to others.

@owlwings "Too good to" as we often seem to do the jobs that should be done by hired help without expecting compensation for our efforts.

I think the best thing that could be done now is to have a choice to revert back to the original system perhaps keeping this version which took some work to produce as another "channel" of Mylot. There was certainly a bonding of community interested in Mylot. The owners would do better to use that in a constructive manner. If there was a financial woe I think so many people would have accepted less money and work for free to build up the site for better rewards. A system to pass better rewards to the people that put something into it with less rewards to those that were not really concerned about payments would have appealed to many. I know this is water under the bridge but if the owners reconsidered it might have advantage to all concerned. As it is now I am not hopeful this system will have any great success. Of course I love being proved wrong but I have my doubts the future will hold much success in an active website. I am not sure and will never know what caused the change of the original idea of providing shared success in terms of rewarding members but I am thinking poor management or a sudden drop in income. Either way if the owners would have been open about the situation I think the majority of membership would have jumped for the chance to help out and make Mylot their own challenge. They would have fought hard to keep her successful. In short they would have helped to make Mylot successful. However, it is showing in the stats that is the posts that the community has crumbled. I suspect there will be less and less talk about the old mylot as time passes however the question is what will replace it?

@Bluedoll that is a good idea. I like the channel idea.

@Bluedoll One of the things I liked best about the old myLot were the interests. The way you could essentially create your own forum on any topic was a pretty unique feature. The way the new site is set up I think there's going to be a lot less FOCUSED discussion on topics such as specific TV shows. I honestly think there would be more discussion here if they just kept the old set up with the interest groups, even if the payments stopped. Anyway, I agree with you 100% that it would have been better if the owners had been honest with us as to why the change happened.

@maclanis I looked for you (and found you) on Bubblews. I'm only a newbie there myself but there are many there who are ready to help, even though it's not a 'discussion' site in quite the same way as MyLot.

@GoAskAlice: May as well say here that I have given you explicit permission to use what you want from it! There are one or two minor things which I need to update and there is a great deal, of course, to be added ... much of which depends on the publication of the Community Best Practice manual.

I was finally able to figure out the new MyLot. It's not such a biggie. But...for some reason nothing about MyLot now can change my sour expression. Again, I say, I'm only staying long enough until I can find my other friends here and search them out around the net.
