I've Done Some Gardening

United Kingdom

Well, I can't remember if I mentioned it here but I had a visit, and then a letter, from a housing officer. I have 14 days to tidy up my garden even though I've waited almost 18 months for my garden to be cleared of the rubbish which was supposed to be cleared before we moved in. I actually don't mind gardening but I get frustrated that I actually can't do a good job, and that whatever I do, all the weeds seem to grow back taller and faster every time I cut them down. Well, I have nettles in the garden so I decided to collect some to make tea, as suggested by my other half. My hands, despite wearing gloves, have got a bit stung. Not too bad, just tingling. I still have a lot to do in the garden but Mini seemed to enjoy helping. We spent about an hour and a half out there. I might go back out soon, I might not. I was going to work on an article to be published where I usually blog. Well, I did work on it only to have a 'server error' after I'd written quite a lot. It's typical because I have been thinking about working on that for ages but not felt motivated. The day I actually get on with it, and the site is being a pain. Thankfully, I still have some hand-written notes so I can work off them. I should really remember to save things offline regularly as I write them. I was going to write all this up on a different site but that would be the one that's down. Mini is watching videos on his Kindle and he's got Cubs later. Then he's going to stay at my Mum's tonight as I have to be at work early tomorrow morning and Midi isn't here. Usually, I would be able to leave Midi to look after Mini although I am working all day so wouldn't want to leave them for that long anyway. Midi sent me a text on Saturday to say he'd arrived in Devon. I expect I will get another text from him this weekend, and a third when they're heading home. I doubt that I'll have any other communication from him as he will do exactly as I asked, no more, no less! I need to print off some emails for our holiday, and find some postcodes for places. There are so many things we'd like to do but we're only going for a few days. I'm going to be quite busy this week but in a good way. Well, working all day tomorrow, then meeting one friend on Thursday, and spending the day with another friend on Friday. Then I'll be spending the weekend getting ready for our holiday. I'm glad I fixed the fuse for the cigarette lighter so I can use the SatNav! It's good to not use it but it's helpful to have it. OK, going to print my emails and things. TTFN

I understand about having to clean up, but here in Texas, a few months ago we had horrible floods that destroyed over 300 homes and the mess in front of their houses is so sad..Fema is a gov. agency that is suppose to help, but they take their sweet time about that...Too hot here in texas to go out gardening unless it is before 10am..or after 8pm..humidity is a sticky hot mess..come on fall weather..

Well, in England, it's usually too wet to do anything! I know government agencies don't really like to help wherever you are in the world. I think, maybe, I haven't nagged enough because it seems the only way to get things done is by making them so annoyed with you that they do it just to make you go away!

I have to talk myself to getting into the garden but once I do I feel better for my efforts and have to take some photos and send to my children showing my hard work. I hope you have a great holiday even if it is only for a few days, enjoy.

I have been taking pictures so that I can see that I've actually done something when it feels like I haven't! I'm also going to take pictures of the rubbish that was left there before I moved in, so I can show it to the people who were supposed to be clearing it!
