Do you have a good boss? Are you a good follower in the first place?
Work place becomes hell when you are working with a difficult boss. I can say that because I have one. When my first boss retired, the person who succeeded her was really someone you would not want to be a boss. Its a long story but as much as possible I do not let her attitude and character affect my quality of work.
I am still blessed because I take her as a challenge to my character as well and even with the work that I am doing in a daily basis.

You are indeed lucky. Your boss should read this post of yours.

@dpk262006 My boss insists that all of us call him by his first name. That does make a lot of difference. He is about ten years younger than me and treats all of us like friends and not subordinates.

@mayka123 - I think calling your boss by his first name is one of the important features of 'corporate culture' prevailing in MNCs and other such organisations. I understand that this thing allows you to be more flexible with your boss.
However, it is not so in Government sector.

I have had several bosses. May be I could write a book on each of their personalities. a queer, an idiosynchratic, one exacting, one with a roving eye, there was one who was petty I could go on. But all had other qualities that made it possible to carry on. This guy who was our Head for 7 years was a handsomje guy. All women would go gaga over him. I just saw his picture on FB and saw how old he had become and did not look good at all

@cherigucchi I have not met him. It is years. So I would not know about the attitude.

I only had two bosses in my lifetime at work and may be that is why I tend to compare. Looks change but attitude? I am not sure

I love your attitude and hope your character rubs off on the boss.

I believe in the dictum - 'Boss is always right and boss is a boss', therefore we have no choice but to accept him or her, the way he or she is.
It is said that you cannot fight with a crocodile (read boss) if you have to remain in water (read office). So it is wiser to accept the boss, the way he/she is. My boss is nice. He listens to me and agrees with me on many issues during discussions but sometimes he changes his opinion at the last moment, making me realize that he is the ultimate boss and I am the subordinate (Lol).

@BillKasman - Yes, you are right that if the boss always bully and shouts at you, it is better to get your posting changed or much better would be to get the boss changed (if possible).

@cherigucchi I am joining a software tech company and I am hearing a lot from friends and seniors that more than performance boss worship matters and office politics matters and your insights have set cat among pigeons in me!!
