Long posts, pro or con?

As much as I love reading and communicating with people, every now and then I see a really long post, unless I know its something I'm interested in I just get discouraged. on the other hand, it might start up an interesting discussion. what do you think, dose walls of text get you off certain topics? going to keep it short, just in case it dose

If it is way too long then i skim through and look for something interesting about it..why did i come to this discussion anyway?? and Does it ask a question?..Those kind of questions get me then to answer the person..If it seems to drag on and nothing makes sense, then i just like it or leave it.. If short i prefer them too and usually gets an answer from me..

That's a good way to handle them. I often find myself read and kind of get lost in it if its hard to follow. I like the shorter ones, they can develop in the comments and feel more like a conversation

Oh yes, I forgot about those, once in a while which "drag on and nothing makes sense" and I will simply like and move on too.. though I've likely written one or two posts in my day like that..

When I see a long post I skim it before I decide if I want to read all of it. If the topic looks interesting I read it. It also depends on the way that the post was written. I am more likely to read a long post if it has been divided into paragraphs.

Yeah I see more and more people starting to do that instead of writing a big block, so I think everyone here that said that may have made a difference in how people approach posts when they have a lot to say, which is great!

I confess if a post is waay long, I will likely just scan.. Unless, of course it is highly interesting and very captivating.. Or it is a really good piece of humor.. But usually, I prefer shorter posts. These days I may forget the beginning before I get to the end..

Yes long posts can bore me but it really depends on the topic. Sometimes I write long discussions too when I can't shorten them.

I try to keep it somewhat short, but sometimes you just need to rant

There is plenty of fish in the ocean. You can go for the smaller fish and get the same recognition. There are many who like long posts and I am like you I prefer short ones.

I love fishing by the way, and the bigger the better usually I like both types, as long as you can easily understand where its going and it dosn't feel like it drags on, which I am guilty of when I start ranting

@Boonie1 It happen sometimes . Presenting a topic in short & simple depends upon the depth of it . Selection is our Option in short ..

From what I have seen here short posts seem to be the norm.. People tend to gloss over the short posts also I feel. I love writing medium size posts.. but on mylot I keep mine short to make things easy.

Yeah, it kind of forces you to be able to write quality posts in a quality way, make your posts accessible, which is not really something I ever thought of

I don't mind reading long post if the topic interests me. If it's boring and badly written, however, I'll often just close a post and move on.

@Boonie1 I much prefer short posts as I don't have enough time to read long ones.
