I went this morning to the County Fair which is only about 3 miles from where I live. We saw a lot of goats, pigs, rabbits, cows and numerous other animals. We also saw two of our local vets while we were there as they had a building for some cats and rabbits just showing the different types there are. We didn't eat there because of the long lines but normally we would have a bite to eat. Sorry about the picture looking like that but this goat is so cute.

@Marcyaz I like a lot about county fairs. Practically everything. Usually they have food you can't get anywhere else. And the animals, like your goat in the picture, are all so cute. I love to look at the baby pigs. hahaha They're so adorable and tiny. Craft displays are always a big thing and the work the crafters put into their products is amazing. There's just so much to love about county fairs.

Deazil thanks I like the county fairs also though we didn't get to eat there this time as we were on a time restriction and the line for food was just to long. Some of the other vendors had burgers but I don't eat burgers so we shied away from those. Talking about the baby pigs they were adorable. The craft displays were quite good and i did see one painting i would have loved to have. We even saw a goat being groomed and it stood so still the whole time it must have been used to being groomed.

@deazil I hope you do go in September and let us know what all you saw and did there. I also like the county fair the best because like you said they are easier to navigate. It was exciting to go and see all the critters there and the crafts they have. The goat being groomed only had some wool on the bottom of its legs and they were trying to even it out like they do when they groom a dog. It was very interesting.

@Marcyaz I don't think I'll be going to the big fair. I used to go every year but the crowds are unbelievable. People come from all over the country. Some of the buildings are so crowded that you're in a pack of people shoulder to shoulder and it's like one big mass of bodies moving through the building. Not too enjoyable. One of my favorite things to see there was always the Budweiser Clydesdale horses. They're very beautiful and so amazing to look at. Seeing them close up and petting them is really exciting. There are quite a few smaller county fairs that I'll probably go to. We have a lot of rural areas here, a lot of farmland. I found some videos on youtube about goat grooming. I can't believe how good the goats are. Just like you said - standing so still.

I have never been to a country fair. I am betting that it is like a festival in a way. Where they have games and rides and food of all kinds.

It is much like a festival with buildings for the different animals and food booth vendors , rides for the kids and clowns and games for children. It is a lot of fun.

@Marcyaz Sounds cool. I see some of them in movies. But I feel they probably exaggerate them in the movies.

That is the cutest photo Marcy! I love the old goats haha..so sweet. I have only ever been to one country fair in all my life, tho I have always wanted to go each year wherever I live. The one I went to was in Kansas and it had lots of hogs there and whatever they do with them and farm boys winning the contest too. It was great. This country fair maybe I went on the wrong day, but I did not see any pies. That would be my favorite part too.

Ocean I am hoping you will be able to go again someday and see everything there is to see. Yes the farm boys and girls from 4H love when they can show their animals off at the fair and of course win or at least get a mention. I even petted that goat whose picture is up there.

I usually will go check it out, but will never get the animals. They over breed them, inbreed, and many many neglect has been put on them.

These animals are not over bred, inbreed nor are they neglected. This is a community where things like that would not be tolerated. Maybe where you are at this happens but not in this small town fair. @ricki_911

@ricki_911 I have never seen anything like that and don't think it would be allowed here in a county fair as most of the fairs here have the young folks from 4H with the animals they have cared for.

@Marcyaz We have several small town fairs here. I have yet to go to one seeing proper;ly cared for with all the animals (mainly small animals). I took 20 guinea pigs all deformed feet, no food or water, over bred, and many dying (being sold as they don't need them anymore as they are useless). But considering the laws are different on livestock than household animals.

Thank you Simone, I had fun taking this picture and the goat surely did want out of there. It was enjoyable seeing all the animals and the crafts. We would have eaten there but the person I was with was on a time restriction and only had a short time before having to go to work.

@Marcyaz I bet you still had a great time even though you had a time restriction. It has been years since I have been to a county fair.

I went to the State Fair in Sacramento,CA one year and had a really good time. They also had a great Country and Western band and we sat and listened to them for a while. The police canine dogs were there and we saw how they were trained to go after the crooks, very interesting. Maybe if they have a county fair near you to go to you would find it interesting.

The photo is good like this. It is something where I like to go for the atmosphere. The biggest county fair in my area is in a village of 2000 inhabitants at 30 miles from my town, and it has 5000 or 6000 visitors each month during the day of the fair. Farmers around are selling their animals, but there are also a lot of market traders and the streets are crowded. It is something amazing for people living in large cities to visit a county fair and I would recommend them to do it at least once in their life.

Topffer this is a small county fair just for this farm area and only about 5000 people in the area. The big fair is about 2 hours away from here and would have many more people than here. I had only been to a county fair once before as where i used to live it was the big fairs.
