Hubby told me last night that he believes the new place has fleas. He has big bites on his legs. Nothing bites me, I am not sweet enough.
We went to Wal Mart and got a fogger set to de bug the house. I am sure it will work well. I am so thankful that we had not brought anything in so far.
We will vacuum and wash all the shelves and counters before bringing anything in.

That might be true if they had pets or even not..
definitely fog the place and then do it again a few days later for the babies that hatch from the ones that made it alive..carpets and floors aren't immune..
I'd put diatomaceous earth around the house to kill outside too

We will be putting diatomaceous earth around. The girl had a cat, but they say when you remove a pet, fleas jump on people. I will salt the carpet tomorrow. Salt in the floors and carpets kills the eggs and babies.

I'm glad you found out before you got any of your furniture in there. That would make it a much bigger headache! Hope you're able to rid the house of them.

Yes, early warning is the best. This is the first year that Princess seems to be having a flea problem. She had not had them since I nearly killed her with flea spray.

@GardenGerty We have flea problems every year without fail. My cats don't even go outside, but we still get the problem. Now of course we have the dog who brings them in. Thankfully this year we've stayed on top of it with Advantage, but most years we couldn't afford to do that.

So glad you found out before you moved anything in. Fleas are horrible. We had a bad case of sand fleas last year and after trying to use the natural method with salt and bowls of dawn and water we finally bought a spray called Bengal. It worked wonders.

Fleas are awful, that is for sure. I do have dogs, but thetyy really aren't plagued with them since they live indoors. I don't have carpet, so none could take residence there. I keep my couches covered, so none there either, and I certainly don't want any either.I will take fleas over mice though, as I get those in the winter. Yuck.

My cat had seemed immune to them for about the last nine years. She has been scratching a lot this year. I will probably put some good oil or fat on her and comb the fleas out. We have not taken her to the new house at all yet.

@GardenGerty I can understand that, as you wouldn't want her to get more fleas. It sounds like whoever owned it, had a lot of cats or dogs, and they probably never took good care of them, and that is sad, but that is how some people are. I hope you can get into your new home before to long.

It is good to really clean a place before you move in.

Good luck with the process to eliminate the unwanted guests in your new home. We had fleas hen we were first married, we apparently carried them in on our shoes. We had someone in to spray as we were young and worried about potential health issues from the chemicals used.

I was considering a pest control company if this did not seem to work.
