My computer guy says that the problem I described on my computer is what he is seeing with people who upgraded to Windows 10. He says it is not good to install the new one over the old one. More than likely we are just going to wipe my hard drive and reinstall. I am going back to Windows 7. Industry data indicates that about thirty percent of people who upgrade to 10 do so with no problems. I do not appear to be one of them.

I haven't had any problesms myself, as I am finding that it is running smoothly, and much faster than windows 8 did. I didn't like the way it was set up to restart the computer, as I had difficulty getting it just right to brring up the menu. Windows 10 seems so much better, and I am sorry to hear that it didn't work for you. I will stay with it as long as it keeps running smoothly.

@GardenGerty I hear you there. I thought that 7 was bad, as I didn't like it at all, but 8 is worse.

@rachael5760 I never did use Vista, but my daughter had, and she said it was terrible. I think that is about the only one I haven't had. So far, of all of Micrrosoft Windoows, I think that XP was really good, as I really didn't have any problems with it at all.

I know many friends here who were talking about that..how they don't like 10 and are going back to 7..but sounds like since it is still so new they need to fix some bugs like are being done here in myLot....

I heard many years ago that the first year or so of something people who upgrade are actually doing the debugging for Microsoft.

I thought Windows 10 came with an option to uninstall and revert to your previous OS installation? I would check into that before doing a whole fresh install. You may not need to wipe the drive and lose all your data.

I was using windows 7 and i like it, last year when windows 8 come out i go try it i dont like because most of my program not working especially the game. The i format back my computer and install with windows 7. When Windows 10 come out, after i see how it look , then i just skip it it look like win 8 too. Maybe only new or latest laptops suitable for win 10.

The computer that I upgraded came with windows 8, then I upgraded to 8.1. I really thought there was no choice as I needed a new computer and they all came with 8. Since I have to get mine repaired I will get my 7 back.

I will probably not upgrade. I have Windows 8 I believe.. and I'm still working on getting used to that.

I was thinking of upgrading as I have a free upgrade but now I'm not so sure.

I have just read (in Windows Secrets) that there is very little advantage in upgrading to Windows 10 for Windows 7 users who don't have a touch screen. There also seem to be multiple problems with incompatible drivers and with many browsers and e-book readers on some machines. My Samsung netbook (which came with Win 7) won't upgrade at all: it says it has an incompatible CPU, which was a big disappointment.

Darnit. Sorry it didn't work out for you with the update to Windows10. I've not made that switch yet. Don't know if I will or not.

From what my husband said, it's about 30% who are having issues with upgrading to Windows 10. He said the biggest complaint that they're getting from people at work is that they just don't like it. It took me a bit to get used to it, but now that I have I'm really enjoying it. It's worth noting that I restored my computer to factory settings before I upgraded, which may have had something to do with the fact that I didn't have issues with the process. The only actual problem I had was that there initially wasn't a driver available for my ancient LaserJet 4 Plus, but I've since been able to install it with no issues at all. If you're going to do a fresh installation, you can get the media creation tool from Microsoft, make discs, and use them to reinstall Windows 10. It's always a good idea to have the physical installation media just in case you need it.

I think I missed the discussion about your problems, so I don't really know how Windows 10 has affected you, but that sounds like a worry. I was contemplating updating, but now I'm not sure it's such a good idea.
