More continuing on Him

My husband was disabled due to an injury when he was working for the Navy Yard but he didn't let that get him down in any way. Up in the mountains where he had been working he had at times panned for gold. He had a really interesting life. As a child his father was a manager at an oil field in Texas, by the way my husband was born in Texas. They were housed in the Managers house which was like a mansion with a maid and handyman. When my husband was 3 years old his parent separated and then divorced. His mother and he and his sister moved to Oklahoma where his Grandparents were living. His mother after a time found a place for them to live and they had a hard life making ends meet. They moved a lot and because of that I believe my husband always had a wanderlust in him. At 17 he joined the Navy and was sent overseas. After we were married for a time I said why don't we see if we can contact some of your old navy buddies, which we did. We found a few of them and communicated with them until he passed away. He always treated me like a lady and we always had at least 2 large dogs in the time we were married and I have kept on with that tradition.

I am assuming this is your first husband you are talking about here. I read your other post as well about meeting the next love of your life. It does not seem fair to lose someone so soon.

Inertia, I am talking about my second husband here. I met him and found he was my soul mate. Fair or not things happen for a reason, why I have no idea. I do miss him terribly.

@Marcyaz Oh, okay, sorry for misunderstanding. Yes, a true soulmate is very hard to find in this life.

My husband was brought up by his mother and sister and was taught to cherish women always, he was a very kind person and had respect for all women. Not to say he was perfect, he wasn't but he treated me good always.

He could have turned out much differently than he did. I like hearing about your life.

Yes he could have turned out much differently growing up without a father in his life very much but his mother and sister loved him and made up for the lack of a father. When he was a teenager his mother remarried a wonderful man but that is another story for later. Thanks Gerty.

I loved reading every word here on the post. I admire people who fight back to win in odd situations. Of course, being in the Navy (or for that the Armed Forces) does inculcate these qualities in many. I am happy for you and your hubby as you have loved him beyond and kept his traditions alive. Not many do such things.

Before I do things I would think what would Russ have done about this or that and the answer comes to me. Thanks Sids, there will be more coming in the next few days as the story continues on about his heritage and some of the things we did together.
