There are some people who just don't believe. They don't believe there was a Holocaust. They certainly don't believe in UFO's or urban legends. They don't believe in the global changes and polar ice caps melting. Is it denial, ignorance or what? .

KittyRose. I like your username. Those people that always want proof are generally skeptic about many things. Even if their friends say something that seems unbelievable to them they will not believe it without proof based on just trust only. KittyRose.

I think you have mixed things up a little here. There are the people who won't 'believe' in the face of compelling evidence to the contrary (Holocaust, Global Warming, the 'Theory of Evolution', for example) and there are people who don't believe because there isn't any reliable evidence (UFO's, Urban Legends, Agnostics and Atheists, perhaps). Then there are the people who DO 'believe' because they have been convinced by erroneous arguments (advocates of the numerous 'Conspiracy Theories', for example). Some of the reasons are denial, some are a suspension of reason, some are an over-exercise of 'reason' (in other words, false logic) and some are simply ignorance. People are often a mixture - for example, those who don't believe in the Holocaust are probably rather MORE likely to believe in UFOs than those who do. Those who believe that the Bible is literally and word for word the 'Word of God' will almost certainly not believe in the 'Theory of Evolution' (and will misunderstand the meaning of the word 'theory' in this context.)

So, again, it depends on the type of person. I think it depends on these people's experiences in life.

Depends on what it is. Some is denial, some is ignorance, some is a believe in empirical evidence. I don't think all the things you listed fall into the same category.

I think some people like that are just generally angry and dont want to be proven wrong too. Not all but some.

That is very true. Ego has a lot to do with it. And fear on the same level.

@TiarasOceanView It sure can do that. And people run on their emotions so much.

They also act this way about the political party they support. They refuse to believe that their party made a bad choice or decision. Stubborn as mules and some of them when presented with evidence say as to global warming still do not believe. I stay far from them. Pig ignorant and will not change

I look into everything that catches my eye, including some of the things you mentioned. Some I walk away more educated on (historic events) some I disprove to my standards and some I just can't be sure of. But I form an educated opinion and never claim I know all the facts. The people who just can't believe in anything just don't take the time to research or have spent a lot of time being brainwashed by someone or something.

Yes, brainwashed. To not believe or only in certain things. Right on!

I don't believe everything they say it exists. I accept science, climate changes, historical events with proof and everything else that seems logical to me. In general I am trying to be open minded but about UFO's and urban legends I am not that sure..
