Would your mail person notice you missing?

I read a post about a mail person noticing one of his customers not picking her mail up. As she would greet him each day. By the third day he contacted the building manager. the customer had fallen and couldn't get up. If it wasn't for the concern of the mailman. She would have died. Would your mail person notice you if you go missing? Mine wouldn't miss me. As I never check mail. My teens do it when they get home from school.

We have different mailmen all the time so I do not think he /she would notice.

If the mail is piling up, then hopefully they will notice.

I haven't seen my mail man/woman in years. However my neighbors would notice. I am always up and about pottering in my garden or doing something around our home.

I am glad someone would notice. My mom or a neighbor would notice. As those two people visit often. it might be a few days.

I was a mail carrier for a short time back in 2012. One of the things we were 'taught' was to check on customers if they aren't picking up their mail.

I wondered about that. If it was a mail person being nice or if it was something required now.

@choccolatte True. However, people the go on holiday can and should get their mail put on hold. Not only will this keep their mailbox from getting built up, but it'll keep from worrying the mail carrier unnecessarily.

We have a very good mail woman and I think she would notice and come and check on us. So glad that the mailman said something to the building manager.

He might if the mail was not picked up out of the box here. We have to get ours from the multi box here for all the apts. But I guess if it had not been picked up he would notice and go tell the office here.

I always wonder what the protocall is for mail persons when they see mail stacking up.

@rusty2rusty Well I would imagine here he would have to go to the office. The mail will not fit in the box, but as far as what they are supposed to do, I would wonder too rustly.

Yes, our mail lady would notice. We live in a very small rural area.

I would be noticed because ..my neighbor's little kids are welcome guests at any hour. :) But more than that, we get drinking water right up to doorstep, milk, newspaper, and part time maid. So yes, I would be noticed. I remember a watchman checked on an old aunt of mine, and found that she'd broken her leg bone. So he'd informed us, since that was the phone number the lady had mentioned. In India, the problem is not as acute as in the US I suppose.

Good question, I know in the US we have mail left outside so maybe here if it wasn't picked up in a few days. In the UK that would be different, we have letter box, a whole in the door were the postman posts the post through, so I wouldn't think so.

We live in an apartment so I doubt our mail person would notice since they have never seen me.

I live in a strata property so the mailboxes are downstairs, which means we don't even see the mailman.
