Well, not exactly! Had a nice exchange of comments with @valmnz in another post (check the link) She mentioned that after reading the post about the horrendous traffic situation in Manila, she is grateful where she lives. This comment of hers reminded me of the time that I was offered by a friend to work for her in her farm in New Zealand. I met here on-line in one of the forums that I'm active in and in the forum we had talked about here needing to hire help for her farm. I said that I do not have any experience working in a farm but would love to work in one given the chance. She went to Manila for a business trip and we decided to meet. It was a social meeting between on-line friends and although it was the first time we met, we clearly clicked. The opportunity to go to New Zealand and work in her farm came up again and like the first time it was brought up, I was up for the idea. She was surprised though to find out about my background - being a college graduate and having a decent paying job - and still willing to leave it all behind to work in a farm a thousand miles away from home picking apples! Anyway, she vetoed the idea! I'm 'over qualified' for the job! Plus, it really is a seasonal job and not one that would give me a 'career'. It was fun thinking about the probability of working abroad in a farm and all the opportunities that lay ahead of me. Well, it didn't push through but sometimes, I have thought about the 'what ifs'. What are the 'what ifs' in your life? Feel free to discuss.
I had wrote about the traffic woes here in Manila in a previous post (link below). It seems though that the traffic only gets worse and worse and worse with...

New Zealand is one place I really really want to visit! My sister went there and liked it a lot. Hope I'll get a chance to visit someday. What ifs...hmm. Sometimes I wonder what if I had chosen a different career path earlier in life.

@cahaya1983 NZ is indeed a great place to visit. What career would you have chosen instead? What is your career now?

Apple picking is very low paid and definitely seasonal. However, you coud always have a wee holiday

Yeah, I read about apple picking. Most likely though, I'll do other work in her farm and will be paid more than the average wage rate. Also, I'll likely go there for the experience and not for the work.

Too bad you are too honest to tell her that you are a college graduate. If you just hide your qualification, perhaps you have a chance of a lifetime to work in New Zealand and travel round the island for a few months.

Well, if you are single and can file a leave of absence for a month or two , then why not . It seems nice to see a new place and New Zealand at that .

well, because we love to travel and we love to explore. yes, a lot of filipinos though over qualified chose to work abroad to have more opportunities. I guess our country does not offer too much of opportunities to become what we want to be.

I am sure that New Zealand is a wonderful country and I would love to visit. My what if... well several years ago we thought to move to Florida, but later we remained in Europe and went from France to Switzerland. Many times I wonder what if we moved to Florida. I will never know.
