I am due my period anytime and as I just had surgery not that long ago, I am getting bad cramps even though I have not even started yet. How do you deal with the cramping pain? Hot water bottle helps but any other recommendations?

Ohh I'd say you better get to excercising more in the future, but not right after you've had surgery. Well, I get those pains especially after being unactive and my usual method is to chug down some Tylenol and then roll about, groaning in pain until it kicks in. Can you get somebody to give you a foot and leg rub? Because there are some points in the bottom of the feet and legs that can ease pain from cramps.

@gudheart Here is a reflexology chart of the foot. For the legs, you want to massage the calf muscles.

@cupkitties This is so interesting, I have no idea about this. So this would help my stomach cramps?

There is a yoga stance you can do that helps. Put a pillow on the floor. Put your head on the pillow turned to one side. Bend your legs up until your knees are up to yourhead and put your bottom in the air, hands out to the side. Stay like that as long as you can. I used to have horrible cramps and this really helped.

@gudheart I don't know of any. It is a very easy stance. Just as I directed.

mine got so bad i had to get a prescription for pain medication (naproxen, not that serious but you have to get it prescribed.) other than that ive used heating pads (much like the hot water bottle but works on the go) and exercising sometimes helps but that depends on how bad it is.

I use heated pads too which do help. I can not even think of exercising while I have the bad pains.

@sprinklesare4winners I think you are right, meant for mild pain not awful pain when you can not even move.

I had very bad cramps. Luckily I could kill the pain with Tylonal. I learned to drink enough and to exercise more all month long; to help myself too. Take care.

Fortunately I seldom have to deal with cramps. I had it probably like a few times but not to the extent that I had to take medication. If it gets really bad I just take paracetamol.
