In India, since ancient times yoga has been considered and practiced as a holistic approach for the overall well-being of body, mind and soul. In Indian mythology, it has been mentioned that practicing Yoga as a way of life can lead to Salvation.
What is your take on this ?

Yoga, I believe is a way to remove the cluttering in the mind, and keep all muscles active. When a person is healthy, physically, and mentally, he or she will have more patience in dealing with many things that come in his or her life. Therefore, chances of being right in decisions, that add to satisfaction and make life less stressful increase. I guess you can't sin much if you have everything served to you on a platter. Therefore, that mention of salvation. But in principle the word om, if taken technically, may only be as good as ma, or pa. Its effect is great because it squeezes lungs out. There is no religion here. We discovered zero, we discovered om. Nothing more nothing less. So anybody who thinks Yoga and Hinduism are linked should stop using computers, and math. Yoga is as much of science as zero.

Yoga is one of the best ways to de-stress ourselves. It is a kind of physical, mental, and spiritual practice which helps us in calming down. If yoga is practiced regularly one not only feels physically fit but it also keeps us away from many diseases. Having said that yoga is required to be practiced with due care and precision, because if one is doing yoga-asan (yoga exercise) in an incorrect manner, it could have adverse impact on one's body. It is better to do it under someone's guidance. Yoga helps us in controlling the body and the mind.

I have met a crazy person who called yoga satanic and it opens up your body to possession!
She moved and went down into the deep Christian South, where she could be among people of like mindset. I don't do much yoga.

@ashuli I just don't have the time for it (or make time). I do promote yoga to people. I'm part of a magazine that encourages healthy living. And there are many yoga events. Last month was yoga month too.

Yes. I think yoga is great whether you use it for flexibility and relaxation or dynamic yoga as an aerobic exercise for weight loss and boosting metabolism.
I think you need to edit the title. It should read buster instead of booster because it conveys the opposite meaning. I hope you don't mind my mentioning it.

@Shyamalaa Not at all ! I feel lucky to be corrected as this means someone cared to spare a minute to let me know the mistake and I really appreciate this... :)

Unlike weight training Yoga focuses on stretching one's muscles and stretching is an exercise ( like all other exercises ) that releases endorphin in your system and thus helps you feel better. However yoga concentrates a great deal on having a soulful experience since it is based on Calmness as its foundation ( unlike weight training that requires aggression and pumped up testosterone levels ). Reaching the highest level of yoga certainly means you have conquered all impedance of the mind and body, aka, salvation

I think Yoga provides some good stretches and is good for maintaining body health. It can also provide a sense of relaxation/mediation. I use other things (sanding wood, playing music) for meditation, but I do use a couple of Yoga positions to help with lower back pain.

Yoga or meditation is very good for you. I for one meditate everyday sometimes more than once a day. I also practice Reiki.
