Oh, I give up!

I've been trying to chase down someone at the clinic to make a follow-up appointment. Every time I try to call they have higher than normal call volume and I'm sent to voicemail after about five minutes on the line. Naturally, none of my voicemail messages have been responded to, either. So I'm about a week overdue for an appointment and almost out of the one medication that requires an office visit to get a refill. I finally got fed up and sent an appointment request through the clinic's website. Success! I got a response within a few hours! ...yep, a response telling me that they can't approve my appointment request because my referral from my GP's office isn't current. Arrrrrrrrgh!

And they keep telling us that computers are enriching our lives...

Actually, @Rollo1 , that is true. What we tend to run into is human error that has been accidentally introduced into the machine. It can't help errors that it can't fix and has no control over. The programmers are the ones who made the mistake and they are the ones who need to fix the error they introduced into the computer's programming! The humans don't want to accept the blame for their mistakes, so blame the inanimate and incidentally innocent machine. (And the new emoji once again: Disgust!)

@DaddyEvil Well, if they can shift the blame to the machine, it can't argue back and highlight exactly what makes it their fault.

I am sure it makes you feel like you are chasing a ghost, or a butterfly. Something just out of reach.

A unicorn, maybe, since it might not exist...

That is pure bull.. uh.. hockey! All the clinic needed to do is email or call your GP's office and request an updated referral from them. One of the staff can do that! Somebody there doesn't care for you very much, or they would be helpful instead of blocking your every move in this game they're playing... (New emoji: Disgust!)

This is the same office where I was told that I should call in to make an appointment because the person who was supposed to be doing it couldn't figure out how to use a calendar. My mom used to say that some people depended on their hair spray to hold their ears apart... I think she's one of those special snowflakes.
