I have always loved things that are Scottish, Irish or Welsh. I was told I have these in my lineage. I don't feel that I will ever get to travel to these countries and so I have resigned myself to enjoy what I see on cable or online. Come to find out that I have a Treasure Valley Sottish American Society right here. They have concerts that feature Irish and Scottish and even Celtic performers as well as 'Ceilidhs"(kay-lees) that are traditional gatherings with singing and dancing and live bands. And then are The Treasure Valley Celtic Festival & Highland Games which is held annually on the third or fourth weekend of September. If you know anything about the Celtic games you know it is a exciting times. Much like the lumberjacks and mountain men of America. It's sound wonderful and I am excited to check it out. Have you found that there are cultural or lifestyle clubs or organizations. in your local that compliment your heritage? What is your heritage? Here is the site of the organization that I found:

You are a closer descendent than I am. My great grandmother came out here from Illinois in a covered wagon. Rachel Sullivan and I don't know how many generations before her were actualy from Ireland.

Yes, I sure can. I have done some extensive research on old irish and scots. It is fascinating. So is the Welsh side of things.

That is really cool. I've never looked to see if they have anything like that where I live. I am supposedly English and French Canadian on my father's side and Irish and Dutch on my mom's side. I would really like to have the DNA that Ancestry.com offers done on myself just to see about my lineage. It used to cost $99, not sure what it costs now.

Great you have found another way to come in closer contact with Irish and Scottish cultures. I feel a special connection with celtic civilization and unfortunately I still don't know any club or organization that gather celtic descendants or compliment celtic heritage, although I learnt some months ago about a girl who was going to play celtic harp in my city. I will keep searching.
