Hurry Up And Wait

This morning K and I have appointments to get our hair cut. The lady that cuts our hair has been a friend of ours for quite a number of years. She has also been a fan of my books and one of their biggest promoters. I received a text from her just a few minutes ago asking if we could wait an extra 15 minutes before heading over to the shop. I was fine with waiting. K acted like she didn't mind but I can tell she is annoyed. It isn't that we have anything else scheduled. All we are doing after getting our hair cut is going shopping. I'm the one annoyed about that as there is no reason for me to go other than keeping her company. I hate shopping unless it is a precisely defined mission. "Let's just go and see what they have," are words related to shopping I hate to hear. Do you get annoyed when an appointment or meeting gets delayed, even when it doesn't actually inconvenience you?

Well, there is such a thing as being mentally prepared and changes in schedule can throw that off.

I know that last minute changes are more stressful and the longer the delay the more one feels one time is being wasted. This can lead to frustration, anger, and resentment.

I don't mind too much and would really appreciate being told abut the delay in advance, as you were.

I don't know if we'd have been given advance notice if the lady who does our hair wasn't also an old friend of many years.

I had two situations that caused us to have to delay activity yesterday and I was very annoyed.

These days I am more laid back. I don't get upset unless it is going to make me late for something else I have scheduled.

Yes, I tend to get a little annoyed if my appointment is delayed. That happened to me recently with my dentist appointment when they called and asked me to come a half hour later than scheduled. It really didn't inconvenience me but I was still annoyed. Guess it's human nature

When it is something you are looking forward to having over and done, delaying getting started tends to be more annoying, doesn't it?

I don't care for changes.
