ive got puppy fever!!!

im sure youve all heard of women having "baby fever" and wanting to have a child.... well ive got the same thing, except with puppies!
i cant help it. every time i see someone walking their dog, i wish i had one of my own. i love coco (my cat) and i know she is the spoiled only child in our little family but i really wish we could get a puppy now.
unfortunately, right now is a bad time, since finances are tight, we want to get married within the next year or so. we also live in an apartment, and both work full-time so aren't home enough to really take care of a puppy.
at the same time, i know this is all true, but there are so many people who have dogs and have the same struggles we do. so i am constantly struggling between what i want and trying to be responsible.

I love babies of any species..and then wake up and realize just why would i want to go through all that again after raising 5 kids and some grands..numerous pups, kitties,rabbits,gerbils,and ex's.hahah

I thought this once too, and eventually we got one...and OMG the work.... like honestly, it was fun, and I love my dog, but next time? I am totally getting a sweet senior dog who needs a nice home.

oh yea i know!! we've had dogs and raised them from puppyhood all my life but the last one my family got... sonny, hes a goldendoodle and even at 2 1/2 he is STILL a handful!!! thats why ideally id want to wait til i had more free time... but at the same time, i know life is so short!

@sprinklesare4winners this might make it better, or worse, but maybe you could volunteer at a no kill shelter and get to help train, and play with the dogs.

@Jessicalynnt it probably would make it worse LOL i used to volunteer at a shelter (that is now shut down, sadly) and we literally almost walked out of there with a puppy. and at the time, we were living in an apt half the size.... not to mention, this wasnt going to be a small dog haha.... so yeah idk im scared to go near a shelter, for fear i will adopt them all!

Now would not be the time to get a puppy. They are cute but they need a lot of attention.

i know i have pretty much had 1-2 dogs all my life, when i lived with my family, so i know theyre work and its not really about them being cute, they really are family members. i get its not the right time but in the same token, you never know what time you have left...

I understand how you feel and I think you are being very responsible. You are thinking of a puppies needs instead of yourself. If you don't have the time or money for a dog right now, it is a good idea to wait until a better time.

I love puppies, but they are a lot of work to take care of. Especially if your finances are tight.

but it is expensive, you have to give them shots from time to time and puppy food
