Here I go again...

For those of you that know me, you'll know that I've worked off and on for the United States Postal Service since the end of 2012. The last time I worked for them, I worked at the processing and distribution center. I was let go at the end of March a few days before my probation was up (after they had changed the date of my probation on me, that is ). Even though I had been terminated, I tried once again to apply for a job there (it's actually for the same position at the P&DC that I previously had). I received an email earlier today informing me that I have an interview with them next week. So, why am I not excited? Knowing the job like I do, I feel confident that I can get this job, no problem. My biggest worry is being able to keep it. Not because I don't work hard, but because I tend to work too hard...which has led me right out of a job with them before, more than once. I know, that probably doesn't make a lot of sense, but that's how it goes with big corporations (or any job for that matter ). Maybe things will be different this time. I'm not going to hold my breath though. ETA: Have you ever been fired and hired by the same employer before?

I know that was a seasonal thing - and oh gosh it's hard to believe another year has passed by and it's coming up again! You have good work ethics - one would think they'd be thrilled to keep a hard worker like you on board! I just don't understand. I hope you get super nice supervisors this time and no control freaks! Hope all goes well with the interview and hey, maybe this time it will stick!

I have quit a job and then gone back later to work for the same place again. Of course by that time there were new owners but several of the old employees vouched for me. I have only been fired once in my life and I would never apply at that place again because I hated it. Good luck with your job.

Hello there, I have not seen you in a while. I hope all is well and that you are busy making lots of money at the post office! We do miss you though.

I've never been fired and hired by the same employer, but I do know what you mean about working too hard. I don't think I've ever been fired for working too hard but I'm sure I have been overlooked for opportunities within a company because I was so good at what I was already doing, especially when I was a volunteer. I mean, why would they want to pay me to do a job that's better for me when they can not pay me for something I'm doing really well?!

I have never been fired and re-hired by the same company. However, my boyfriend has worked at a job three different times.

No, because I've only ever been fired once a very long time ago and it was from a temp job anyway. Most other jobs I've quit. I usually quit in a bad way too, just sort of stop showing up. I get anxiety about having to put in a 2 week notice so I usually just end up quitting. At least my last few jobs I got a little better and gave them a note that I wouldn't be coming back.

Good luck! I quit a job and a year later they called me and asked if I'd consider coming back, which I did.

I have never been fired and rehired by the same employer. I was only fired once. That was for passing out after I was involved in an accident. I was accused of sleeping on the job but had a concussion and passed out.

I hope they are easier on you this time. Why they want to wear out good employees I don't know. I once a quit a place, and then got rehired a couple of years later. I ended up quitting again, but they no longer are in business so don't have to worry about that, even if I could work.

This is something that must happen to many people, but that doesn't mean anyone would be okay with it.

If I was fired from somewhere I don't think I'd want to go back. Good luck with the interview.

I work for myself so i fire myself when ever I need a break. Strange that you could possibly work to hard at a job but because its Government I guess they don't appreciate an over achiever and prefer to have everyone go at once pace. Really silly reason to fire someone. Would like to know what they were thinking.

No, I haven't been fired. I can't think of a time I went back to work for a job where I had quit either.

I have not been fired, but have quit, and like @katsmeow1213 I also get extreme anxiety about giving notice. I am not sure if I will ever go to work outside of my home again.

Good luck with the interview - you'll likely ace it. I've never been fired but the company I work for now often re-hires those they let go depending on the reason.

I hope you get that job back. My fingers are crossed. Working too hard, I get that one hundred percent. I was the same way when I was working. I always worked too much. People started complaining that I made some look bad. I didn't care. They should be happy they had a hard working person like yourself. What were they thinking.

Good luck with your interview. Hopefully you get the job and are able to keep it. Your hard work should be rewarded, not bashed.

I think differently, the relationship of employer & employee goes both ways. sometimes you gotta ask yourself whether you would want to work with certain people again. I also think, if a job (or a means to get paid) compromises what you liked & valued about yourself, then its not worth it. Historically I have compromised on quite some aspects, like leaving my home town for jobs, commuting up to 6hours day for jobs, taking very basic & poorly paid jobs. But I found the one thing I couldn't compromise was becoming the person I don't like for a job. It's just not worth it. Good luck with your new job. Take care

bless yer heart. noperz, i can honestly say i've ne'er been fired in my life. i did retire from a place, albeit it prematurely in their eyes, 'n 'fter a year 'f their phone calls 'n nonsense i went back fer a lil o'er a year. 'n then retired once more. their ideas 'f right 'n wrong with the treatment 'f families 'n patients jest t'weren't the same. too much out-sourcin' raisin' prices when all'd been in-house jest fine.
