Jim is a tractor enthusiast but when he found out his daugher was diagnosed with breast cancer he decided to paint this tractor pink in honor of her and to have the tractor ready for the Relay for Life. Shortly after this relay two other ladies in the family were also diagnosed with cancer but a different kind. Together, the family participates in events like the Making Strides: Walk for a World without Breast Cancer 5K. The tractor also gets to its share of community parades and threshers’ reunions, raising money and awareness in South Central Illinois. They hope that everyone becomes aware of self exams, as all three of their family members with breast cancer found the lump themselves. Pinky, the pink tractor will be on the road at parades and special events this year. Isn't Pinky adorable.

Super tractor, I like the pink color. It is true that self exams are even more important than annual screening. A lump can appear at any time, even only a few day after you had a mammography.

Self exams are sometimes the only way we know that there is something wrong.

It's a gesture with meaning - both personal and for all those who are affected or afflicted. He is doing what he can to help and that's important.

When I read the title I immediately thought that pink was a rather bizarre choice of colours for a tractor. After reading the post I realise how appropriate it is to choose such a colour.

Pinky is a lovely, dainty-looking little tractor. I can just imagine her chugging along in a parade. I bet she's stronger than she looks and has done her time ploughing, harrowing and drilling.

From what I understand she has done her time as you say ploughing, harrowing and drilling away as tractors do and now she is on parade.

That was something nice to do for his daughter. It seems everywhere I turn now I hear and or read about cancer. Like it is getting worse. I hear about more people being diagnosed with cancer than ever before. Maybe it's a sign for me to stop smoking.

It would probably be a good idea for you to stop or at least cut back on your smoking.

@Marcyaz I know. I need to. I am actually getting tired of it now. Not the money, I get them cheap. But just the actual woking itself. Maybe I am growing bored of it. That is a good thing.

That is a super colorful idea! Maybe they should put the photo on Pinterest with a short explanation of the purpose of the pink tractor. My best wishes go to all those 3 ladies and their families.

What a cute tractor and such a thoughtful thing to do, too. So wonderful to know that people come up with creative and alternative ways to increase public awareness. Looks like Pinky is going to be very famous!

Isn't it great that they chose to do something positive and spread awareness about cancer rather than wallow in self pity like most people would have
