These minature horses help out at trauma centers and assisted living facilities, homeless shelters, hospices, libraries along with childrens hospitals.
Therapy horses are just like full-sized horses in terms of personality, preferences and intelligence.
They go through two years of intensive training.
Some of the groups with these horses will even travel to people who need them for comfort.
These tiny creatures bring a special kind of love where it is needed the most.

I haven't ridden in a while either but I have a son who has a horse ranch and I could go there (out of State) to ride one of his.

Really mostly people think only about dogs, cats and other animals. There's a day for service dogs but is there a day for these intelligent ,nice, beautiful, smooth and soft creatures. ???????????????????

That is so cool. I write articles and one of the sites I write for is for horses. One article I wrote was about a place that uses horse as trauma therapy and a man there also worked for a youth foundation for troubled teens and he used these horses for that as well Gives them something to look forward to and work toward.

Every miniature pony I have ever seen has had somewhat of a mean streak when they can get away with it. Hubby grew up with horses and he told me it was because of them being small and having a chip on their shoulder. They are certainly little cuties though. I like the little outfit that one is wearing.

I have never heard that they had a mean streak because of being small. I am going to be checking into that and see what is up with it. I do know they go through two years of intensive training before becoming therapy horses to make sure only the best are accepted. Those little outfits are really cute on the horses.

There are many varieties of therapy animals but many people are using non-therapy animals for personal reasons giving the whole professional animals a bad name.

That's just so cute. I wouldn't mind having those cute horses around if I live in those facilities.

How lovely and I bet they are very well treated too! They used to have aquarium with tropical fish in dentists waiting rooms to help calm people before seeing the dentist Animals can be quite a comforter if you like them.

Now that's a new one on me. I never saw these therapy horses. That is so cool actually. And I love that picture. That little horse is wearing little sneakers. Awesome. That is actually a good thing. If I were in a facility like that I would like to see these horses around.
