Shooting at an ATM

At exactly 13h00 as I was driving towards the company where my hubby was having a seminar, my car and a few others were escorted off the road to allow for emergency vehicles to follow. I remember the time, because I was stuck in traffic and was hoping to get to my destination before 1 o'clock as that was the arranged time for fetching.
I was late.
They were the "Metro Police" first on the scene vehicles - Black 4x4 Porche as well as a Range Rover - I am so pleased to see the response vehicles can outrun the silly little robbery vehicles.
So later tonight on the news it was mentioned that just 9km away from where I was, a robbery and gunfire at an ATM injured 12 people and that is where the response vehicles were edging toward.

That's awful and a stupid way to try to make a bit of extra cash. I can't imagine it's that plausible to get much from an ATM machine unless they were trying to blow it up or something. I think that type of thing has happened before, but not very often that I know of.
I'm sure the person waiting for you understood the circumstances were beyond your control. Were you able to call them and let them know you'd be late?
