It is a sad fact, that many beautiful countries, are not always what they seem, or what they should be, and statistics can be quite concerning for the holidaymaker, or visitor. Just pulled out the top ten for you, to consider before booking a vacation... 10] South Africa is home to around 54million, and a Homicide count of around 50 per day...even though sometimes called 'the Rainbow Nation, along with a greater incidence of assaults, rapes and other violent crimes. 9] Saint Kitts and Nevis, the smallest sovereign state in the West Indies, home to 50,000,has an average 33.6 homicides per 100,000 people. 8] Swaziland, surrounded by S.Africa, with an estimated 1million population, will offer a life expectancy of only around 50 yrs, due to many factors, of disease and violence, combined. 7] Lesotho, another small S.African country, also shares an uncontrollable Homicide rate, supposedly spawned by poverty. 6] Jamaica has long held the accolade of being one of the highest homicide countries in the world, especially in large cities, such as Kingston. 5] Guatemala and it's population of 16 million, has on average 100 murders per month recorded. 4] El Salvador has a population of around 6.3 million and a serious 'gang culture' and over 60% of murders connected to this. 3] Home to around 340,000 people, Belize is the least densely populated country in Central America. It is also rated one of the most dangerous, countries in the world, with 45 murders per 100,000 people 2] Venezuela..more than 50 people out of 100,000 are killed in Venezuela and the number has been constantly growing over the last decades. 1] According to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, Honduras, home to about 8.25 million people, has by far the highest homicide rate of all countries in the world., with 90.4 murders per 100,000 people. So now you know where not to live or even holiday, without putting yourself in peril! source:list25.com

We visited St.Kitts and Nevis because hubby thought it was a great idea to move there. I am so glad I said "not even think about that".

@LadyDuck Wise non-move for you, listening to your 'higher self' and such a shame that such lovely countries are devastated by crime..

@bookbar I heard about crime when we visited, but even if the crime was not a problem, the Island was so small that I could not see anything attractive to move there.

When I read the title it led me to expect a list of cities, so I was expecting several US cities to find their way onto the listing.

These are the countries that i will not want to visit, even if you pay me to travel there. I wonder how much is the salary of the police in those countries. if a country wants to reduce crime rate, it has to invest in the training and facilities of the law enforcement.

@bookbar Agree. I think the police in those countries are guilty of more crimes than the public. The real crime rate must be much higher.
