My Grandparent's Garage

I remember once when I was just a youngster I found a spot in the wood bin in the garage where a chicken was hiding. I climbed up in there and looking up I saw an old chest up in the beams. With much trying I was able to get it over close to where I was and could look into it. It had my mom's movie star pictures in it. It was full of old time movie mag-type pictures of her favorite movie stars of the age. I put it in the back of my mind that I would ask her about it and see if perhaps I could have it. Years came and went and when I was in my mid thirties my mom called me one morning to tell me that my grandparent's garage had burned to the ground the night before. It was sad for that old building had a lot of memories. I had first helped my grampa paint on that building. A lot of old tools......and then I remembered. That old chest I had forgotten all about. Lost to us all now.

It is sad to remember things like that Celtic.

@celticeagle Yes we do. Yes all of my family, all of us, had to move away quickly and leave everything due to a stalker..long story but yeah..

What a shame you couldn't have had some of those old movie star pictures for yourself but things happen for a reason, if you remember some of the names you could see if you can find some pictures online. I know it's not the same but might remember you of that time.

at first I thought your mom was a movie star 
I'm really sorry it burned down. Memories are hard to forget and when they are lost, it's very sad and heartbreaking. Like a treasure trove lost forever.

I just love those old vintage things so much it was sad to have thought of losing them. To have a part of my mom's past too gone.
