The weight of the world

the windmills of my mind

I was reading a few random posts while updating my "other site", since i cannot abandon the friends I have there, neither the ones I have here . . . My favorite reading from today is that of @Rollo1 - The Velvet Bag . . . It feels like a lifetime of pain has been placed on my shoulders and this year just doesnt ease up. "In Greek mythology, Atlas was the Titan who held up the sky. Although associated with various places, he became commonly identified with the Atlas Mountains in northwest Africa " The mythology legend goes "Zeus condemned Atlas to stand at the western edge of Gaia (the Earth) and hold up The Heavens on his shoulders, to prevent the two from resuming their primordial embrace. Thus, he was Atlas Telamon, "enduring Atlas," and became a doublet of Coeus, the embodiment of the celestial axis around which the heavens revolve" Do you ever feel like the burdens of the things around you are as heavy as the world spinning on your shoulders? I know the feeling! Just some ranting from the windmills of my mind.

Because I've always been a bit of a worrier I've rally worked at a positive approach. When things get tough I hide away, feel hard done by for a short while, then realise it's much easier being happier and realising things will work out in their own sweet time.

I believe you are right, I am not a worrier - I would call myself a open minded realist with a BIG Heart and from what I have established - broad and strong shoulders as well. I dont worry, I feel then, I cry, then I let go and then I get on - its a process. Yesterday was UP feeling today was somber. Own Sweet time

@Inlemay a young woman I knew once, whose son had taken his own life a year previously, once told me we have two choices each day. We can choose to be happy or choose to be sad. I've forever taken her words to heart.

The world can carry it's own burdens, I am content to sit here and let it pass.

I do know that feeling. Sometimes the weight is tremendous. I wish you blue sapphires of serenity.

I'm sorry you feel like that Lany, but it's quite understandable with the things that you've experienced this year. Sending you a hug.

"Carrying his own cross, he went out to the place of the Skull". Always a sobering thought.

There is no one on earth is free from those weights but there are many who know how to carry that weight without buckling down to pressure. Living after all is an art. I have learnt the art of living. One needs to be less sensitive, less emotional and at times use ones head rather than the heart.

I know how you feel Lany, when too many negative events come all together this is how we feel. Remember that there is always the sun behind the clouds, ready to come back.

And how those Windmills of the mind can, at times, become a weighty beast, until you pull the Stop lever!

There have been times, but, I have overcome so much, made it through so much. Built myself up again. It might not feel like it, but we get stronger. I wish you strength. Shrug off the world a bit tonight, try and get a good nights rest. And I hope you feel better soon.

Yes, I know the feeling "carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders" as the saying goes. But it does get better. All the best
