Today I tried to cancel my ATT Uverse account, and could not do it online and could not do it with a real person because the four digit pass key was not what they had and even the security question was one I did not know. We had to drive to the nearest ATT store, prove my identity and then change my pass key then talk to someone else and then I was cancelled. Good news is that I must have initially purchased my router and my battery back up. I do not have to return them. We wanted a land line for our new house. It is so strange, I have had my old number for 39 years. The technician had to join the two lines together at the box so that both sides of my duplex soon to be oneplex would have telephone service. Wednesday is the only day they schedule my new town, Florence, Ks. I waited here for him, and then joined hubby working on loading the truck. So, that, plus food at Taco Bell are the story of my day. Good night folks.

It's so annoying when you have to run around unexpectedly like that just to do a simple task. I guess in some way it's good they were proving your identity, that insures that someone else can't cancel our services to be mean or something. So the number you've had for thirty-nine years was a cell number and not a landline? We have both. We've had the same landline number for over twenty years, but not quite as long as you had your number. We run a business our of our home and need the home phone otherwise it would be too expensive for all the additional calls we make most months.

No, it was a landline. We use prepaid cells, but for things like work conference calls hubby needs a landline. So many people do not have landlines anymore.

@GardenGerty Okay, so then when they came to hook both lines together were you able to continue using the same number you've had for so many years? By the way you said that, I thought maybe you'd be getting a new number.

I hate when I have to run around to solve a problem that could be done easily online. Moving it's a hard job.

Just forget it, there are times when we want something to happen & it doesnt. Treat each day separately, you will notice that you are enjoying it a lot much better.

Yes I remember when in KS I too had that passcode for the ATT. It was a nuisance. Hope you are getting a better service now?

It sounds like it was really frustrating to go through what you had to to cancel.
