I have made my first dollar on MyLot!

Indian Paintbrush on Mt. Diablo California

It took a week, but I made it through the dollar mark last night as I slept. For some reason, I don't get a lot of likes and comments on my own "discussions," but I'm pretty active in making comments and joining the dialogue on others' discussions, so that must be where my earnings come from. My worldly wise advice to "newbies" would be to interact as much as possible, as it appears we're rewarded for interaction on others' discussions, not just our own. Am I right about that? The photo is of Indian Paintbrush, which comes up in mid-Spring on Mt. Diablo, near my home.

[Clap, clap]! Yep, interaction is the key here! I love it when everything is in working order (unlike that other place) and we all have a great time. It's a nice feeling when you know you can rely on a site!!

I wonder if we'll ever know the whole story behind "that other site." Did they intend it to be a quasi-scam the whole time? Or did they just get in above their heads? I admit that I do want to know.

@TheHorse I think we all deserve to know the truth. That's the least they could do for stringing us along this entire time with words teasing about the big plans they had and were working on. But they probably won't.

It's one of the things that I like here. We can make money by participating on other people's conversations. I don't have a lot of time some days and I don't want to start discussions and then leave for several hours.

I still like it (ego) when others comment on my posts. But it's fun to be able to travel around the site and get involved in any conversation I want to. And to now that being involved in others' discussions can lead to earnings.

Yes you can even earn before you post anything - I just flitted about making comments and responding when I first got here, and was surprised to find money in the bank.

This is very good advise, and very true, even if one's own discussions don't tend to lead into lots of action, one can find that action elsewhere. Sometimes i have a good discussion that gets used on and on for days, and then I have some that bomb, you never know!

I have the occasional discussion (like this one) that gets more than 15 comments, but I enjoy the conversations wherever they occur. It's nice to know we're compensated even when our participation isn't on our own posts.

Yeppers, like what if my most interesting event of the day was being able to tweeze that nose hair that had been itching me for a week. I could post about it and hope for a few sympathy likes, or just give up. But here, I can find an interesting discussion and just join in.

Wow! That is amazing! How much time did you spend in here to have an early payout? I hope I can do same thing but I cannot be active here as much as I want to. I only sign in here whenever I have free time. By the way, thank you very much for such a good suggestions. So, interaction is the key. I think this site is pretty awesome for it offers a lot of benefits to its users. Happy mylotting and Congratulations!

@TheHorse Oh, I misunderstood your post. I thought you almost made it to the payout. I have been here for a long time and I think the fastest time I can make to have my payout here is one month. Well, I could not devote all my time here because sometimes I run out of ideas. Happy mylotting :)

I haven't come close to the payout level yet. But if I can make a dollar my first week, and maybe two dollars my second week, I'll be well on my way towards $10.

You are so right that interaction is the key here, as that is what we have to do to get paid. I love it a lot, and I am having so much fun with the interaction. I have never laughed so hard as I have at some of the comments made in here. That is a good thing though, as laughter is good for the soul, so let's all keep on laughing.

I made 25 cents my first day and I only posted a discussion at the very end. I do not earn fast here, only just getting over $5 yesterday, and I'm 2 days shy of being here a month.

@OneOfMany Yes, we're used to the trickle. Here, we can do better than 5 cents a day if we're active in visiting and commenting on others' posts.

I've got $4.43 after 11 days. Not bad, I don't complain. It would have taken me a quarter of a year on the B site to arrive there.

I stop by as a break from doing other things (grading papes, etc.). But it winds up being several minutes at a time.

It took me about 3 weeks to reach my first $1 after returning here, although I was not very active and was in no particular hurry. It comes as no surprise to me that your responses have been low because it does take a little time before other members get to know you. Interacting is always the way to go here because that is the only way to become involved with others.

I've been pretty active. This evening, I've been alternating between writing progress notes (a job-related thing) and leaving comments on posts.

Well done! We earn from other interactions to our posts - they could be our discussion, response, or comment posts. We don't earn when we just post a discussion, response, or comment alone. But the minute others interact to our posts, we will start earning.

So it's most important to post things that will elicit comments from others? That's what discussion/conversation is all about.

the more you interact in your own discussions and in others discussions, the more people will see you and check out your own discussions.

You get rewarded for the comments you make on the articles of others. You don't get anything for comments on your articles or those you make on our own.

Abby, my impression is that we get rewarded when others respond to us, whether it's our posts or our comments on others' posts.

@Analyst001 That's what I'm thinking. But I'm not sure. My biggest day so far was when I left a lot of comments, but also posted something that received a lot of comments.

It looks like you got a ton of responses from this post. Guess you just have to post stuff that the audience responds to. lol Anytime someone posts about hitting a milestone on myLot it seems to get some buzz. I just started a couple days ago myself and am only up to 16 cents. Maybe I'll be able to post about making my first dollar soon too. Keep having fun.

In that way, it's not that different from "that other site." Posting about our interaction with the site gets a buzz.
