Hopefully Time Away Will Be Good For Him

My brother's birthday is on Tuesday and the very next day he has to go out of town for a work related meeting. He won't be gone that long as he will be coming home on Saturday. But he is not very happy about it at all especially since it is the day after his birthday and he has been in a really bad mood for the last couple of days. We normally always get along but being siblings, there are times when we get on each others nerves. Like now . Last night he got upset with me because I mentioned that he should get someone to fix his bedroom door. He kept saying over and over that it was his door and he knew how it worked and on and on. So I just kept quiet and he didn't speak to me the rest of the night. This is out of character for my brother so I know it has to do with this trip. Normally when he has to go out of town, I hate it because I miss him but this time, I think it will be good for him. Even though he doesn't want to go to this meeting, I think it will be good for him to have some time to himself without me and the two dogs. He needs his own space to breath a little bit. Hopefully when he comes home, he will be glad to see all of us

I think we all need our own space at times and I am sure you will enjoy your time while he is away as well. I am sure all will be well when he returns.

He actually had a surprise for me. We both love Disney and have a large stuffed Mickey Mouse for each holiday. He came home with a Minnie Mouse all dressed up in a costume. It's so cute.

I think it is always healthy for people to spend time away. it gives a person time to check in with themselves, see where they are at and be one with their own universe. Relationships are great but time with self is important.

Agreed relationships are great but we all need our time to ourselves.

I couldn't agree with you more. He has been on 3 or 4 business trips over the last 6 years and it was always good for both of us although I was always glad to have him home again.

Being together all the time, it happens that we are a bit on each others nerves. I think it's better if he goes to the meeting.

We are together almost all the time and he and I both lived alone prior to moving in together. It has been an adjustment for both of us.

Not sure what it is, but maybe he just needs something to take mind off work or something? I think going out will help :D

He does need his time away like we all do. Hopefully being away will make him realize what he is missing in his life and he will come home happy and content.

He really doesn't have too much time to himself with me and the dogs here all the time. I think he did enjoy his me time as he came back home in a much better mood.

It's always nice to go away for a while even if it's for business meetings. I hope he will come back feeling more relaxed and happy.

Being busy and going the very next day of his birthday is a bummer, it's no wonder that he's a little off. Yes being alone will be better, then he'll miss you the most And he will be much happier when he returns.

I feel as if I am just like him in many ways. I'm going to be moody and grouchy until the thing I dread is here and usually I'm fine. I hope he will be able to enjoy himself a little while on his business trip, hopefully when he gets back he'll be in a better mood.

"he has been in a really bad mood for the last couple of days." Could it be because he is getting old??? Wish him a happy birthday from me--that should make him smile!

Lol...I wouldn't dare tell him that. No, I think it was because he was a little stressed about this trip. It was a budget meeting.
