While on holiday in the US my folks took me to a place where kids normally spend their time painting on ceramic. I too was given something on paint on. I quite liked it as I had never attempted this. We had to leave our work there which had to be collected a week later.I had returned to India but when they came on a visit they brought my piece. Have you done ceramic painting?

Nope, never tried it before. What's the item in your photo? Is it something usable like a ceramic pot or plate, or is it meant as a decoration only?

First things first. It is a simple painting I did as I have no experience at all.I use it to keep hot things.

@allknowing Oh, so it's like a coaster?

@inedible I have used it as a coaster but it could just be an artifact.

I did ceramic painting when I was in school. This is something I always loved to do.

I know it is meant for kids but I joined them in this new found interest.

Yes, and I absolutely love it. My sister in law has her own kiln and molds, so she would fire up pieces for us. Not so since I moved states.

I've not done it but a few years ago these painting cafes were quite popular (probably until all the parents got sick of the talentless lumps of clay that they couldn't throw away because their little darlings had made them).

You can say the same thing about what I have produced But for me these are memories - memories of my time spent with my extended family.

I've never tried that, is it very different from painting anything else?

You are given a plain looking item on which you have to paint with anything that you like. Some first draw and then paint
