We have a society now that everyone seems know what is the best diet or food for us to eat. American's are obese. Not everyone but too many. The FDA warned that Corn Syrup is one of the big culprits of obesity. So what do the food processor's do put corn syrup in just about everything. Read the labels there is corn syrup in things you would not think it was in. Tomato Sauce and Ketsup and yes in Ice Cream. In Salad dressings, in candy. Then there is the gluten issue and the lactose issue. The real problem comes from adulterated, processed foods. Junk food, GMO's and Montensano and chemicals added to our food chain. I have found the more natural your food and if possible home grown the healthier it is. Nothing like home grown tomato's carrots, pea, green beans and squash. Can it and put it up yourself. Buy honey if you can find it and use coconut or olive oil. Bake from scratch and find organic home grown eggs and dairy products. We have gone back to the "Farm" so to speak and much healthier. The lactose intolerance hubby had is gone we don't drink "HOMOGENIZED" milk it is a huge reason for lactose problems. Pasteurized is fine it kills the bacteria but the homogenized has additives to it to make it rot. Where as pasteurized you can use in baking if it sours. Skim the cream off and save and make your own butter. Oleo Margarine is almost plastic and originally created to fatten turkey's instead it killed them. So people eat it and it is NOT healthy. The Processors of our food chain do not care really about your health they will lie because it is about profit for them. We have our own chickens and eat fresh eggs that are free range and much tastier and better. I know a place to buy Organic milk. When we can I will get some goats again and maybe a cow. I did not gain a lot of weight or have problems until we did not have a garden and our own milk from our cows or goats and eggs from our chickens. We are getting back to that and doing better. Hubby lost 40 lbs and I have lost 18 so far. Exercise too is important and good water we have our own well of good mountain spring water. No chemicals or bleach or fluorides. we have never got sick from it. I spend $275 a month of groceries and it lasts for a month. I don't buy a lot of boxed and canned goods. I do my own canning and processed foods are limited. We once in awhile buy ice cream and I try and find some with no corn syrup. I am going to buy an ice cream maker soon and then make my own. Used to do that and so much tastier. People buy too much beer, processed meats, cheeses, soda, cold sweetened cereals, pizza, chips, dips, boxed mac and cheese and spend $500 or more a week and wonder why they are tired, obese and hungry because they have empty calories. Eating less carbs such as pasta's, bread's, crackers, pastries, and eating more protein, meats, fish, dairy and legumes and nuts, fruits and vegetables is much healthier. The food chain guru's know this but they want to sell and will lie to you how healthy or good something is. Sure it tastes good, they got you hooked. The more natural you can eat the better. Also what might be good for one person isn't for another an old adage, One man's food is another man's posion. this is true. Example I have a granddaughter who cannot eat onion's or garlic she is highly allergic to them so much so if she gets it in food she has to use an epipen, Her sister cannot eat fish both go into toxic shock and cannot breath. I cannot eat grapefruit or a lot of fish. I have to know if my granddaughter's are going to come and eat with us. When they do I do not put onion's or garlic in my food. Or fix fish. My mom was allergic to tomato's. Another person I know cannot eat rice. I think some is due to the chemicals in growing the food any more and the vaccine's in our meats. it gets passed into our food chain and we consume it so the more we can grow our own and or find truly organic foods the better. Basically we need to know our own body and what works for us and what doesn't and even cooking different in your family might be needed for some members. Youth can usually eat things and burn it off. But as we age we find we need to watch what we eat more our metabolism changes and we need to change our eating and rest, exercise regime along with it. We need to also be aware of our body type and genetics. Some people are naturally larger than other's it has to do with ethnicity and culture too. Bottom line we are each of us accountable for how we treat our bodies and how healthy we are. If we have become unhealthy due to poor choices we need to take steps to turn it around and the older we are the harder it is to do. But not impossible. Much has to do with attitude and choices.

I gave up in listening to the media on this.I know what is good or bad.Nothing is going to change my mind. In another words the media should leave me alone.I know most about ingredients.I looked at them. If they have so many hidden sugar you have to see it.Most people do not checked them out. That is their problem. They have educated people over and over and over again. The need to get with the flow. Sorry, about the rant.As you can see I am tired of this. You are what you eat.

Very true and most don't read labels or seem to care and reading the labels gets difficult with small print and eyesight going bad. I carry a small magnifying glass with me.

You are exactly right! Since i had cancer a few years ago I really watch what I eat. I try now to eat very little processed foods. I eat more veggies and fruit than I used to. I hate Gmo's and Monsanto is evil... I buy non GMO, potato chips if I want chips, Non GMO raw sugar. I try not to buy much bread and if so NOT white bread. I recently started using honey and no WHITE sugar whatsoever.. I went to a restaurant a month or so after I switched and got tea and put the packets of white sugar in my tea... OMG it was so disgusting.. all I tasted was chemicals.. I never noticed that chemical taste until I got away from it completely.. We grow a bunch of our own veggies and herbs (basil, sage, oregano, chives), tomatoes, Concord grapes, peppers, onions/scallions, lettuce, concord grapes. berries. they taste so much better and can save you some money.

It pays to be a good consumer and do your homework. We don't know what we are eating if we buy foods now days unless you buy only organic. I am a Moore fan. I also feel it is our responsibility to keep up and pay attention.
