Do You Eat Organic?

I have a close friend that chooses to eat only organic everything. I don't fault her for her choices but I'm not in a financial position to pay extra for organic food especially meat. I try my best to eat healthy but always hate when our conversations roll around to the benefits of organic eating. My friend is such an organic freak that she actually feeds her dogs organic meat so they don't eat ordinary dog food. Is this extreme to you?

Yes it is extreme. My daughter when she was a vegetarian she tried to stick to organic but she grew most of her own food. Now that she's a meat eater and she feels better I don't think it's a necessity anymore.

It must be nice to be able to grow your own food especially vegetables. I love when my neighbors bring me tomatoes, zucchini, peppers, etc from their gardens. I don't have a garden

If she can afford it, she should go for it. I doubt if I can afford it, so I don't.

Actually my friend will sometimes not pay some of her other bills so she can use her money to buy organic. Then she cries when people are calling asking for payment

@Marilynda1225 , That's too bad. Food, organic or not, is so expensive.

I eat organic when I can. That is, I eat the apricots from my tree and the small amount of veggies that I can grow. The rest are usually not organic because I cannot pay the price.

Me too. I love when my neighbors give me some of the vegetables from their garden but I can't afford the high price to pay in the market

I will buy organic beef but as far as fruits and veggies go, I won't pay the extra for it because I am aware that the inspections on fresh foods greatly varies.

I've considered buying organic beef and chicken but the price is almost double per pound what the store is selling theirs for

I can see organic being a little more costly but in my area it's sometimes double the price of ordinary fruits & vegetables

My grandparents often bring me some vegetables from their fields, i enjoy them very much. When I was little, I used to help them with reaping and sowing.

Even though it's hard work it's rewarding when you get to eat those vegetables home grown

I have several friends who only eat organic. I eat as I have for the last 68 years...whatever! Some of our garden crops get no pesticide so I guess that's organic.

My solution would be to have my own garden and grow my own vegetables. However I don't live in a place where I can have a garden

I think eating organic food is healthier and I try to when I can. I know what you mean about the cost, though, and I certainly don't get on other people's case when they make different choices.

I think it's pretty insensitive of your friend to go on about this if you can't afford to eat the same way.

there are times when my friend annoys me about her organic lifestyle but on the whole she's a good person and we get along okay

Well, if she can afford to do it, great. But, I can only occasionally buy organic.

No, I have no preference for it. If the cost of organic food is low, then I will buy. I believe in eating everything in moderation, but not that everything must be organic. I think those who live to 100 do not choose to eat organic too. Sometimes you just have the good genes from your ancestors, and you have to eat a lot of junk to upset your health.

I will not pay extra money just to eat organic foods. I alwas wash my fruoits and vegetables before I eat them. So to me that is just as safe.

We have organic products where I cashier and some of the canned items will go on sale fairly often.I only buy store brand organic tomatoes for chili and such, but I cannot afford to buy everything organic either. I don't think we carry organic meat.
