Today I passed the afternoon with my nephews the twins. Monday is their mother’s birthday and they wanted to make her a present. We made a batch of good old fashion bread dough. Simple as can be – just some flour, salt and water. The boys had so much fun making different object for their mother’s birthday. After the backing they are now painting and decorating their gifts for their mom. Do you still play or make bread dough for craft projects with kids? If not you should really consider trying it again. It’s a lot of fun and kids love it. What I like is that it teaches the children there is no need to go out and spend a lot of money to buy a gift for someone. People love to receive hand made gift especially from their children. I think it means so much for their mom and she is so proud to display them around her home. How many of you still cherish and hold onto hand made gifts your children made for you in school. I know I have a few from my daughter and I wouldn’t get rid of them for the world. Image source - personal image

Cute kids. You are just wanting help making that tough bread recipe. Haha I think home made gifts mean so much more than store bought. Hope she has a nice birthday. Sure sounds like she will.

Well I'm not so sure this recipe we made today with just flour and salt would make a great bread recipe at all. . I had the kids today and we decided to use our time wisely and make some cute gifts for their mom.

Strangely I have never even made some bread or bread ornaments.

I have several things my kids made, clear up to school art classes. It is great. My favorite for modeling things though is called "cold porcelain" which is another type of homemade crafting medium. It has glycerine, cold cream, corn starch and I am not sure what else. I will share when I am up and crafting again. It is no bake, but air dries hard and somewhat glossy.

I do have to agree and the twins never did something like this before so they were so excited. They couldn't wait to paint them and wrap them up. Now they have to wait until Monday to give them to their mom. Wonder how that one will go. They get so excited and twins are so much fun. But the competition is hard so you do for one and then for the other. Next time you switch around so they both get the same attention.

Thank you so much. I love them a lot. They are so fun to do things with. The two of them are competitive. So I have to teach them I am only 1 and they are 2. It's fun being with them. I had them today because their mom had an appointment so we decided to profit on our time to make her some special gifts from them. I know she will love this so much and they were so excited to do this.
