NANOWRIMO 2015

Ok ya'll November 1st is almost upon us. Anyone else out there going to participate in NANOWRIMO? I will, as I have for years. I have 2 ideas, and I am either going to rewrite a book I actually wrote for NANO several years back, and lost when my PC died (I think it might be publish worthy), or the other new idea, or try to combine the two. I really haven't decided. I will have too soon though, can't get behind. I try and hit 2000 words a day, this is more than needed and helps me be done early.

I write 24/7/365 as it is - my novel is already in progress - two actually but one is on ice while I work on the other - good luck with the November project though. It does get a lot of new writers started

@Jessicalynnt I have to keep word counts anyway as publishers expect novels of about 100,000 words nowadays

Good on you! 2000 words a day is achievable if you have the time. Maybe we won't be hearing much from you during November though?

It's basically a challenge to write 50K words in the month of November!
November 1-30. The world needs your novel.

It sounds like it will take off if you combine them.

I pondered that, but not sure how to do so, I mean already combining zombies, shipwrecked on an island, gotta work in a tsunami and kids with magic? maybe and maybe not lol

31 Oct 15
@softbabe44 I think so, I actually thought about using that as part of one of the main charas childhood, but the zombie island doesnt have magic, and I dont know if I want it too

The extent of my writing is blogging. I've never had the imagination for a book. Good luck with your goal!

honestly it's not a book per say, it's 50k words, about anything. The real goal is to get people to write, and to prove that you can be disciplined to write to a goal.

then why not try this year! lol

I did it one year, completely sucked at it, and have not tried it again. I write when I get inspired. I cannot just sit down and say "hmmm ... I think this month I will x number of words a day". Then again, when I am inspired, time gets away from me, and I write a lot more than I realize.

@Jessicalynnt sounds like fun! I need to do something that is more of a jovial nature. My themes can be.. How to save the world address to the human race. Sci-fi.

I've always wanted to try, but never have. I just don't seem to be able to come up with a suitable idea. I guess I'll give it a miss this year too as I'm busy trying to get my bonsai blog established, and it's taking quite a lot of my time.

@Jessicalynnt Yes. I could say that growing bonsai trees is my hobby, but it's more than that - it's become a passion. I'm writing about my experiences with developing some of my trees.

@Jessicalynnt I still have to visit Fredericksburg and Williamsburg, VA, as well as Richmond for my research. I plan to go to Fredericksburg next July 4th weekend for a big family reunion for all the descendants of my main character's parents. I hope to meet some of the descendants from his line.

I have participated in the past, but I'm passing this year. I need to get my current novel finished and probably has about 50K left on it before it's finished. It was also my NaNo project last year. I'm hoping to have it published early next year. It's the fourth and last in the series already published.

very nice, you could of course try and write that last 50K in November, no one ever said it needed to be a 'new' novel.

@Jessicalynnt I worked on this for last year's NaNo. I'll just work on it off site this year and hope I get it finished this time. I am close to being finished, I hope, so it's possible that 50K will see the conclusion of the matter.

@Jessicalynnt It's an amazing tool for writers to manage content. There's a free trial and a discount available through the NaNoWriMo site! I think it's under the "sponsors" tab.

I know you can do it and be a winner! There's some kind of a prize for this challenge, isn't there? I know a bubbler who wrote she's a winner of this challenge. Or I could totally be wrong about it too. Anyway, good luck to you!

I'm doing it this year. My 7th actually, since I skipped last year. I can do 1667 in 1.5 hours a day. A little bit extra with weekly write-ins, word wars/word sprints. But this year, I'm aiming for 2 K for a 2-hour straight writing session.

yeah I love doing 2-3K a day, then if I miss a day here or there I can recover without killing myself, We shall have to offer each other support and encouragement! Going to have to start tagging these NANO-Lotters !

I think I recall you doing this last year. So, if you give me some input I'll give it a whirl. How much does one have to write? Where does everyone keep their work? And what goals should I expect as a first timer?

Hey! So you came over too? DIdn't know, off to follow you now. It's 50K words ( ), which averages to about 1,667 a day. I do 2K because then if I miss a day, I can recover without killing myself. The work is your own, at the end you upload it into a counter to prove you won, but they don't actually "save" any of the text on the website. Many years they offer 1 free copy of your book through like lulu.com to winners, amongst other E goodies. you can write about ANYTHING. You can plop things you write for any place during that month into word and count it too, as long as you write it in November. Honestly, I know YOU already write a ton. So I could see you doing this, which means it's hard to give you advice. All I can say is, get us on your team, post up how you are doing, post up plot bunnies, or even needs for encouragement. That's what got me through last year, a good supportive bubbs family
November 1-30. The world needs your novel.

Although I haven't done NaNoWriMo for at least six years, I definitely appreciate what it can do for writers of all levels. This November I might half-heartedly participate in it because I do have stuff that needs written and if I do my usual "It has to be perfect!" then I'll never get it down on paper. I'm keeping an open mind about it.

I try for that 2-3K mark, this gives me enough wiggle room if I miss a day in there or so I can recover without killing myself. We shall have to support each other! I added a tag, lol, NANO-Lotters !!
