Magic Eraser, magic sponge

Here in the US this is a popular cleaning tool. I was kind of slow to jump on the bandwagon, but now I am completely sold on it. First of all, I thought it was embedded with a chemical cleaner, and so was reluctant to use it without knowing what it was. I did some research, and there is no chemical to it. These are dense sponges made of melamine. They are abrasive, evidently, although they do not feel like it. Mr. Clean was the original, but I just got two heavy duty store brand ones for $1.47. You can clean without adding any chemicals or you can use it with any of your usual cleaners. I just got inspired, because the picture window in one part of my house had scummy windows. I think the dog the guy had drooled on it. I sprayed it with my homemade glass cleaner and it would not come off with paper towels. It came off slick as a whistle when I used the Magic Sponge.

I bought a place that had been a rental and one of the tubs has a lot of soap rings from bottles on it. I am scrubbing them right off with this.

Those things just might be magic in my opinion. They work on almost anything...it's uncanny!

I tried it once and didn't like it so have not bothered to get it again. The problem is the areas I need cleaned are too large and the sponge doesn't last long enough for that.

I used it today on a window that appears to have been dog slobbered and loved it. That is why I started the discussion.

Yeah, they work great for that. I am also removing the old adhesive from contact paper.

These magic erasers are wonderful. I have one I use in my shower and it gets the scum off in one quick swipe. I also use it on my stove top and for getting smudges off my door when the grandchildren leave their fingerprints. I'm still discovering ways to use them.

If you can find a store brand they are really economical. They just eventually wear away over time.

@Marilynda1225 Since the store brand ones cost less than 75 cents I figure I save at least that much on cleaners.

@GardenGerty that's the one thing I find too. They disintegrate as you use them but well worth buying

I have seen people use them for dishes. I have been using them to clean the bath tub.
