There are all kinds of national days being celebrated in different places.
There is a National I Love You Day in the Philippines or a National Donut Day in the States just to name a few.
And today, it is the National Bandanna Day here in Australia.
It is held on the last Friday of October, so this year it falls on the 30th of October. The day is organized by CanTeen, an Australian national support group for young people aged 12-24 living with cancer.
On National Bandanna Day (NBD), bandannas are sold to raise funds. It is the biggest fund raising event for the organization with a worthy cause of supporting young people living with cancer – not only as patients, but also support for families of the cancer patients and for young people with parents who are cancer patients.
Being young comes with its challenges already, and having to deal with the challenges of cancer on top would certainly not be easy. Anyone supporting NBD contributes toward making the tough challenges easier. Bandannas represent a symbol of hope and courage for those affected by cancer as often worn during their cancer journey.
