Early trip and a bag of peppers

The Sister kindly offered to drive The Girl to work this morning and wanted me to come along. We ended up at the supermarket where I only really needed a few things but ended up with much more . The usual. So, here we are at only 10:22 am and I am not only fully dressed (with shoes on! those will have to come off...) but I have been grocery shopping as well. One of the things that made its way into my cart was a bag of green bell peppers. I thought it might be a nice treat for the guinea pigs and since there were so many of them, we could have stuffed peppers. That sounds so good to me right now, and I don't know why. I do love the smell of bell peppers cooking. Now, I just have to remember how to make stuffed peppers. It's been years since I made them. I don't even know if anyone will eat them other than myself. The guinea pigs had a split decision on the peppers. Fuzzbutt loved them as a treat. Squeakers ate one piece and decided he didn't care for it. He's so fussy. He really only likes carrots. Ah well. Do you like stuffed green bell peppers?

I always loved stuffed peppers. My grandma made them with sausage or hamburger with rice. She always seasoned the mixture and used fresh or canned tomatoes in hers. There was always a lot of extra stuffing left over so it was perfect.

I didn't have a lot left over because I made six of them and I didn't make a lot of filling. I used hamburger.

@Rollo1 Sounds good. I think everyone has a special filling they like to use in their pepper. I just remember the way my grandma did this one that is all.

Guinea pigs are weird, they don't all like the same things.

I haven't made any for years, either. It just appealed to me today and even The Boy ate them.

Yes, I love stuffed bell peppers, but I also like them grilled and seasoned with salt and olive oil. I like to make chicken Fajitas with bell peppers.

The Girl named him. I have often tried to think of a more socially acceptable name for him, but unfortunately, Fuzzbutt fits him perfectly. He's a bit of a goof.

Fuzzbutt, I love it, who thought of that name? Mom used to make stuffed peppers, she'd mix hamburger meat with eggs and milk soaked bread then put em in the peppers. They were pretty good, but I prefer poblano peppers as chile relleno, stuffed with cheese.

I do love them, but have found them sometimes tricky to make. I think steaming them before stuffing helps.

I've never liked green peppers, but I bet a stuffed something else might be tasty! I need to get better organized with meals or something, so I have stuff on hand, rather than odd bits that dont fit together

I don't know what else to stuff... I buy a large package of ground beef and then divide it up into smaller bags and freeze it. I put in just enough for a meal. Usually it's less than half a pound. I think using a pound of hamburger for one meal is too much.

Yes but I have a slight preference for the yellow, orange or red ones. I usually stuff them with cooked rice with things like a bit of cooked left-over meat of some sort, feta cheese, pine nuts, currants, parsley, cherry tomatoes and whatever I have hanging around, they make a tasty meal from not very much.

The longer they stay on the vine, the sweeter they get. The red ones are very sweet.. Maybe next time I will buy a bag of assorted colors, just to dress up the meal and make it more visually appealing.
