vampires. I have such a thing for them. I have been trying to put my finger on why. I was handed Anne Rice's "Interview With The Vampire" and at first I wasn't sure but as I read and really got into to I was so taken with Lastat. He is my favorite of all the vamps. And, I have to agree with Anne, I didn't care for Cruise in the movie either. She did enjoy his performance and so did I but, I didn't find Cruise to be anything near the Lastat I fantasized about in my head. My favorite of her books was The Tale of the Body Thief. What a neat idea! Raglan James is the mysterious character who is the body thief. Lestat is disceived into changing bodies for what he thinks will be just for one day. And, it is the story of what happens in his attempt to regain his body. He is a dramatic and passionate character. Then I liked the Blade trilogy. Wesley Snipes as a half vampire half mortal who fights to save mortals from the evil vampires. He is great! And I still watch Angel. He is such a character. A cursed vampire who tried to save the world from evil vampires. The three episode story of when Buffy and Angel split up are some of the most romantic and memorable minutes on TV that I think I have watched. The characters and the banter between them is so enjoyable I forget at times that it is a story about evil. The best vampire movie I think is "30 Days of Night". Why? I think it is realistic. I think that vampires are a animalistic, evil being and this movie portrays just that. Others I have seen are so theatrical I can't really believe in them. If that is what I am supposed to do. And being a fan I feel like I do need to do just that. And I do so enjoy the Bela Lugosi type of Draculas in the movies. So charming and manipulative. So sensual and mesmerizing. I have to say that Barnabas Collins is one of my all time favorites too. Jonathan Frid that portrayed Barnie in the soap opera and the movies was excellent. When I think of a vamp it is usually Barnabas that comes to mind. Your thoughts.

I'm not into vampires but I do like Dark Shadows and yes, Barnabas Collins is my favorite vampire. The black and white vampire/Dracula movies were fun to watch.

There've been some really good actors portraying vampires over the decades. My favorite movies, I haven't read the books, are those that don't get too graphic, I like being able to use my own imagination. Shows like the Originals do a bloody overkill that takes away any imagination I might have had about the characters, but I still watch them, until something better comes about.

The older vamp movies were a lot more that way. Now they tend to get gory. The series like Dark Shadows and Vamp Chronicles had more a story line to them and weren't so bad.

Vampire movies have always been on the top of my list. I use to love to do movie night with my daughter. One these was vampires and then we did scary and then she did comedy. it's fun to have a theme for movie night because I think it makes it so much more interesting.

@celticeagle When my daughter was young she was such a night owl it was amazing. Now she is older she is in bed by 10 at the latest and if it is later than this she can't keep her eyes open. Wow how times change.

I don't care for bats. Stems from my childhood. And if a vamp comes to me as a bat he won't get a good reception at all. LOL

I used to like the old vampire movies but I must have grown out of it. I have read some of Anne Rice. Books. The Violin for one.

Yes. I have that one. I enjoy certain ones. Not like the new young people's ones but, the old more traditional stories. There is an old Lugosi one on this Friday on AMC.
