I thought the world ended last night....

....in a way it did - right here in my little world. My internet connection died, or I thought it died. I spent a good part of an hour on the phone with Verizon, two levels of tech support. I had no connection with my Verizon JetPack at all. They had me turn if off and on, remove SIM card and put it back, shut down the computer and turn it back on - all those things that I had already done several times before I called them. The bottom line was - go to the Verizon store today and buy a new unit. Of course mine is out of warranty. The last thing the second person told me was this, "Tomorrow try it a few times before you to the Verizon store, maybe it will be fine." So at 5:00 am I was wide awake and decided to check it out...surprise, surprise - all is well....good signal strength considering it is raining. I am glad I don't need to buy a new one but I'll never understand why it stopped working and is now fine. It was scary being cut off from the world!

Sounds like a cyber ghost hijacked your connection then when it got bored gave it back. It's really strange what happens in the cyber world of electronics.

Yes, it is but I mostly use it on battery - it will run several house before I plug it back in. I think it was their tower.

It may not be the problem with your computer. It may be the problem with the transmitting part on the internet provider. Anyway the problem is resolved. I must say that the customer service staff is very friendly and patient to guide you through all the steps, though it is no help at all.

It isn't my computer - I knew that instantly. It is a little slow today, but the weather is not so good and that's normal.

I was upset thinking I'd have to spend 60 or more bucks.

That happens to ours sometimes in the afternoon. I wonder sometimes if it is the internet provider doing updates or something. Maybe maintenance but that would be weird for a weekend.. Glad it is working again though for you! :)

That is the unpredictability of gadgets which we anyway do not understand how they work. Now I think I know how they work - they too have moods

You were not cut off from the world, just the internet. You can smell, touch and see the real world and it never gets cut off. Ask your parents if you are under thirty.
