Noisy Quiet Morning

At 5am, I got up and put the coffee on to brew and went back to bed. I couldn't stand the thought of having to sit in my computer chair waiting for it to brew. I got up half an hour later to a computer that was already warmed up and a hot cup of coffee.
A 6am, I started waking up the offspring. The Girl has a working day interview - that is she works all day and they watch her to see if they want to hire her. The Boy is going to be volunteering at the church's food bank all day. The Long-Suffering Brother would be there at 7am to collect them both. Naturally, my first attempts to wake them were rebuffed and my last attempts were accompanied by panic and accusations of letting them sleep too late.
But, they're all gone now, their morning hustle and chatter bustled out the door just moments before the last threat to leave without them was uttered by The Brother.
And the hum of the hair dryer, the cries of "where are my shoes?" and the desperate declarations of "I am almost ready, tell him to wait!" have been replaced with the insistent beats of The Talking Heads and The Ting Tings as The Man searches for just the right song to post in his Facebook music challenge.
But still, I can't help sharing the quiet.

I am so glad these days are gone. I know I enjoyed raising my daughter, but getting up and convincing people to get ready on time was not fun at all.

@Rollo1 True, much worse than making them go to bed in the first place. My trick was that for every minute late she made me in the morning, I made her go to bed five minutes earlier that night.

You described the scene so well that it was just being in the middle of everything. My niece is just like your girl, when she stay here overnight it's hard to wake her in the morning and then she complains because she is late and she needs to rush to go to work. My husband wakes up very early, around 4 am, but he is very quiet.

My granddaughter is the same. Once she hit her teenage years (13) you can't get her out of bed in the morning. My daughter is always yelling and practically dragging her to the bus every morning

My children are all grown but my mom lives with me. I also cherish the quiet before I have to get her up and ready to start the day. I enjoy my 1/2 hr of peace & my coffee before the days challenges begins

@Rollo1 getting up at 4:30 is ungodly as far as I'm concerned.

I hate having to move fast in the mornings. I need my quiet time to wake up in a peaceful environment before facing the rest of my day. I try to get up before my husband does, in order to have alone time. I am so grouchy nobody can stand to live with me if I didn't have a few minutes alone in the mornings.

I am sitting here in my recliner with only the distant sound of the leave blowers and the lawn mower disturbing my peace. A cup of coffee is at my side.

OOOhhh the joys of parenthood... Ha Ha... fortunately our household is quiet.... I am usually first up to brew the tea or coffee... but only long enough to take it bake to bed with me... I saw a comment on pinterest the other day that I thought was apt... for me anyway... it said... " I might be awake at 8.00am, but that does not mean I am ready to do anything, other than drink coffee... " lol

You have to enjoy the quiet as you can. Often it is a time of reflection and relaxation.
