Summer is most definitely here with the mercury rising to 38* midday therefore swimming is the leisurely pass time of most days and certainly every week-end with plenty of watermelon to eat. "You can blend the sweet pulp into a refreshing drink, or serve it with some honey & yogurt. Have guests over? Skewer it with feta & top it off with olive tapenade. Give your palate a summer awakening and make the best use of this seasonal melon." Watermelon is a staple diet in most SA homes in the summer months and therefore we have many fabulous recipes. Watermelon slushies . . . (juice in crushed ice) or a breezy cocktail, maybe just a cooling smoothie - Summer is here with pretty pink drinks. Watermelon salad with feta cheese . . . We are very fortunate to have bountiful amounts of fruits - do you like watermelon ?

Nothing to be jealous of @ison_1 . It's far too hot here, and we've got a severe drought with water restrictions already in place. I hate winter but I'm almost wishing this summer was over already because they're expecting it to stay dry until March.

I love watermelon, any time. When I worked at the preschool we would blend watermelon, lime juice, honey and yogurt. Very good.

I prefer the smaller, yellow kind. They're called honey melons in German.

It certainly is very refreshing in hot weather. Everywhere you go in China you are served watermelon for dessert.

We eat it daily in SA in hot weather - its not good for diabetics and it give me tummy ache, so i do it in moderation, but the family eat it for lunch and snacks

I almost forget it is winter in the Northern Hemisphere here and it is summer in the Southern Hemisphere No wonder it is the watermelon season there. I like watermelon because it is juicy and sweet.

The only thing we do with watermelon is slice it or cube it and eat it. Of course, on Facebook there are people who carve it into works of art.

I like watermelon but hate having to cut it. I guess with this weather we'll have to go out and buy some though.

It is one of those foods that is so closely linked to hot weather. Most of the time I'm not inspired to eat it at home. In a hot country though the situation is quite different!

I do like watermelon, but not as much as other fruits. Enjoy your summer, we're getting ready for winter that is if the temps ever start going down.
