I am about to do something stupid....

I know, that could mean a zillion things right?! In this case I am going to call Direct TV and complain. Since we had the old (perfectly fine) receiver boxes changed out for the new ($15 extra a month) boxes installed we hate what has happened.
* No more 'autotune' - we loved that feature. If I wanted to 'remember' to watch a certain program on a certain day I just hit autotune. Now I have to remember (Ha) or write it down on a piece of paper. Auto record has replaced it.
* It takes at least two minutes for the TV and Satellite to come on each time you turn the set on. It was always a little slow, but this is really slow.
* When you changes channels it is also very slow.
* More than before many channels have the problem of voice and picture out of sync.
* Our 'local' channels (NBC, ABC, CBS) are not coming in correctly.
We have put up with this for a few weeks now and since we are inside more we are noticing things more. I plan on calling Direct TV to:
* Complain
* Tell them we want the old receivers back, or
* Remove the $15 charge - (sure, like that will happen!)
I know this call won't be pleasant, so I might be acting stupid just trying it!

Its a love hate relationship when I have to call into complain. Sometimes I enjoy calling in and practicing my debating skills and most of the time I hate it because I get so mad my blood boils. Direct TV is the worst they are a bunch of morns and that is the worst company to get cable from. Good luck ;-)

I actually have had very good luck with them for 20 years. And when I complain I always get something 'free' - which I did today.

@AbbyGreenhill That is awesome. It is rare to come across a person like you that is happy with them and has luck getting free stuff when they screw up. Go you..yeah :-)

I complained and found out how much it would cost to revert back to the old receivers...$200 plus shipping ....I'll learn to deal with slow!

What did you think it was? Years ago - the old day - we didn't have that problem then they started adding new features and now it all takes longer. I wish we had cable in our area I would switch in a heart beat.

I won't be downgrading - that would cost over $250...you have to pay for the equipment plus delivery plus installation.

I hate it when companies fix things that aren't broken. Good luck with your mission.

hm, I dont know their stuff very well, but I want to record a show i just hit record once to get that one show, or record twice to set a series recording. I know the boxes need left on, tv off sure, but if you turn the box off it takes forever to load. and it sounds like you need a TC because you have some kind of signal issue. bad install or something.

You make me glad I don't have a television to deal with. Many programs are available online.
